Acquisition 107.2 (Mac OS X)

Won't be using Acquisition

Thanks iGide and corradokid. I tried Acqlite and its pretty good, hopefully without the bugs of Acquisition. I used Acquisition for a few days but I'm not dumb enough to keep using it until i lose files and end with those 4k ones. Oh I also found a newer version of Acqlite (.23c) that you can download http://www.mountain-hosting.com/acqlite-0.23c.zip http://WitchMountain.org/acqlite-0.23c.zip http://simla.colostate.edu/~mbdickin/acqlite-0.23c.zip [alert admin]

Adium X 0.52 (Mac OS X)

Great Work Guys!

This is shaping up really well guys, I aplaud all of you! File transfers don't work but will soon. The GUI is really great and what I love about this the most. For IM functionality (though without all the extras of the official AIM client) this is a big improvement. [alert admin]

Neverwinter Nights 1.32b1 (Mac OS X)

Great Game!

Neverwinter Nights is a great game packed with loads of fun to keep you playing for days and when your done with that you can go online and download more modules or multi play. It's not without it's problems however. There are many problems with the installer that MacSoft chose to use and the Updates to the program are difficult to use as well. In my instance the automatic install of the game failed multiple times, my mac friends who also bought NWN had the same problems and for no one did the installer work properly for them. I contacted the company and their support was great, quick email responses and polite replies, in the end they sent me brand new CDs. Thats wonderful except for these CDs have the same problems, at least they tried. Anyway than came the first beta patch, than the second v1.31 patch, and now this third patch. The beta patch caused lots of problems for a lot of people including me, the v1.31 patch created even more problems. Watching the Macintosh NWN Boards over at the Bioware Forums you can tell that MacSoft is doing their best but it seems that they made a very poor choice of Installers as that seems the case for most of the difficulties. In a week or so I may update but right now I went back to running v1.0 and it works fine for me. I advise anyone updating to backup your characters and saves first! Even the Window mode works, although a bit odd in the way it is implemented. Anyway the actual game is great fun! [alert admin]

errors after updating

I updated to the lastest 5.2.1 version and now when I record DVDRs i get this error The drive reported an error: Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03 There is no mention of this on their support site, only to error code 0x70. I get this when I am attempting to burn data DVDRs with my built in SuperDrive (2x) and Apple DVDRs rated for 2x. If I turn the speed down to 1x it burns succesfully about 80% of the time. I than reverted back to 5.1 but now I get the error with that version too! The built in Apple burner works fine although it limits me to slightly less space per DVD. [alert admin]

SubRosaSoft GlobalTraceRoute 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Neat little program and free

I emailed the author and he got back to me within 12 hours. I think its a neat little program and its great that its free. The reason the author wants you to "register" with him is to sign you up for his newsletter though. Anyway I wish the program had a choice of maps, and higher resolution ones as well. Possible even maps that only covered the USA or Asia so you could see more clearly when the trace only occurs within that area. It would be even neater if it started zoomed in at your location, say it was your state of New York USA, than zoomed out to a map of the USA because it traces it to the state of Georgia, than if need be it zooms out again because it connects to China. The map would only zoom out if need be. Also I think that once you hit the trace button it should change to say "Cancel," right now it just keeps going until you type in another address and hit "Trace" again. I also wish there was some way to easily save or export your traces, the world map linked with the raw data. [alert admin]

Pocket Tanks 1.00b (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

this has potential

pocket tanks is a semi-fun game with outdated graphics and a poor user interface. some of the features do not work, like windowed mode. also it is very annoying that everytime i launch it i have to go through various screens, like intro screens that mean basically nothing and than watch a bad animation where the menus roll in. i hope there would be a preference to turn them off. also it is very un-mac like because you must use odd key combinations for some functions, like command-Q does not quit, you have to use [esc]. i would like this a lot more, and purchase it, if it worked as advertised, but it doesnt. Marine Aquarium X 2.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Yes it looks…

nice, but so do a lot of the free screen savers. And since screen burn is so rare now this application has lost its utility. "SereneScreen Marine Aquarium is one of the most pirated products in the world" I don't believe that because no one I know has ever even heard of this. Anyway the price is too high for a screen saver that does not have any features to be more useful. $10 is about right. I'd rather look at Flurry. [alert admin]
