JollysFastVNC 0.98.38 (Mac OS X)

Well maintained and respectable application

This application has been well maintained as you can see from the number of updates. It seems to be quite stable and has just enough features. Screen Sharing has been neutered on the OS, Chicken of the VNC is dead and Remote Desktop by Apple is just too bloated (read: expensive) for most users; this app seems to make the most sense for my use right now. Finally, the application seems to handle all VNC servers that I have attempted to use it with thus far: RealVNC, UltraVNC, TightVNC, bonjour/screen sharing enabled Macs. It has also worked with the Linux-based VNC servers. P.S. The icon is much improved! Joy! :) [alert admin]

MacDust 3.0 (Mac OS X)

New Version 3.0

I've been playing with version 3.0 on 10.5.6 and it seems to be working as advertised. The dev, in my personal experience, has always been quite responsive and has added two features at my request quite quickly. Dealing with different caches on individual computers is a sticky thing for devs to negotiate. Some folks want everything wiped out with one button. Others want only specific items deleted. This should satiate both groups. The software is quick and he has added a couple of items like "flush dns cache" that will be handy for web devs. This software has proven to be handy for my needs and will continue to use it. SRS iWOW 2.0.2.255 (Mac OS X)

Bad software and worse support

I got this product as a part of a bundle. I thought it would be interesting. I was hoping it would enhance my MacBook Pro's sound. It did, but it also fouled the reliability of iTunes and had to reinstall and troubleshoot it more than I liked to. I emailed support to help with the troubleshooting and to reset the reg. I did so twice, but I received no reply or acknowledgement. Buy software, but make a strong point to buy software that has good support. Horrible hack of an application and horrible hack of support team. Buyer beware; you will toss your money away on this product. [alert admin]

MacDust 2.02 (Mac OS X)

Handy Tool

I bought this handy tool, and I have been pleased with the results. Additionally, I had sent a couple of emails to the developer and he was responsive and polite. I mentioned adding a feature and he had the feature in the next release. While the application isn't fully mature, it's on its way there and is certainly usable. Having said that, the application should satisfy the needs of most AND the application has always seemed to be stable. [alert admin]
