CopyPaste + yType 2.5 (Mac OS X)

I've used this utility since OS 9 and it's amazing that Apple has not incorporated this in the OS (especially since it's so clearly stated in the user documentation that it could be the "next step"), or as a separate application like iTunes (which was purchased by Apple from an independent developer). CopyPaste has a tendency to include "kitchen sink" applications such as text cleaners, date insertion, text sorters, and, now, type-ahead via yType. For me, a text creator and web surfer with a now almost ancient iMac Graphite, yType consumes too many resources (RAM... what else?) and the stupid extras I enable (quarter-hour announcement of time by Victoria, outerspace screen saver) trip and halt (Victoria has a bit of trouble speaking, and I can't wake up the iMac, sometimes for a couple of minutes). So, turning off yType, my "ancient" hardware finally responds with relative speed. And the "C" and "P" palettes are absolutely the most used extras I've ever paid for. I also don't have to buy TextSoap or TypeIt4Me (although TextSoap's one of my favorites from OS 9), and I can access capitalization, spelling, and other utilities easily. I suspect (and have experienced) from time to time that the developer has been a bit sloppy, and memory leaks seems to have been consistent problems. But updates are frequent, and poor performance after an upgrade is usually corrected within a few days, or, at most, weeks, after discovery. Personally, I am always attracted to auto-type features and utilities, only to be disappointed at their inaccurate behavior, or intrusive interface. This is true, too, for yType, and, aside from degrading my modest system's performance, I kept iType on only a week before I decided that I could type almost as fast as I could use the double-spacebar to select the word suggested. I rarely used the suggestions, but they appeared constantly (and, impressively, in every text capability, whether web, system, or file), mostly to my annoyance. If you're a slow typer, or horribly inaccurate, yType might help. CopyPaste, with multiple savable clipboards, is invaluable, especially if you're using G3 or early G4 hardware like me. I imagine that yType might even be helpful on a G5. Get CopyPaste now, and use it every day. [alert admin]

Netscape is dead.  

IE is dead, too, and even IE's OS X version isn't being updated. You have a couple of years to get comfortable with OS X. Given Apple's switch to Intel chips, OS 9 won't be supported after that.
