Tagit 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
Not a lot of glitz to this, but hey! It works, and it's free. Took all of 2 minutes to look at the instructions on the website and start tagging. Kind of wish I could see all my tags without having to actually be tagging something, but otherwise, nice. Thanks. [alert admin]

Skim 1.2.7 (Mac OS X)
Thanks to the people who made this app. I find it very helpful to take notes in pdf's and it saves me from having to print out documents. The ability to export my notes with a link to the pdf document is really handy. It would be nice if the notes didn't have to reside in the same folder as the document but an alias of the notes takes care of that. Would definitely recommend this. [alert admin]

Intego ContentBarrier X5 10.5.5 (Mac OS X)
Unlike the previous reviewer, I don't have any problem with Facebook behaving badly with ContentBarrier--it works fine. Overall, the program seems to work very well, and was easy to set up, Nice, easy to understand GUI. Ability to access settings and reports over the web is very handy--actually essential for me--but I find the web interface to be a little tedious, when it comes to getting more info on the computer's activity--I have to click on a lot of links to get to the detail. It has also blocked some things that didn't really need blocking. Haven't had to use support, but the documentation is clear. Overall, easy to use and does what it says. I would recommend anyone with kids take a look at it. [alert admin]

LaunchBar 4.3.7 (Mac OS X)
I've been using this for years now, and though I have stuck with ver. 4.3.7 because it seems to be faster on my G3, I can totally recommend it as a must-have. Spend some time going through the documentation and playing around with it and you will be amazed at what it can do: open apps and folders, bookmarks, control iTunes, look up in Google, Amazon, etc., all from a tiny bar. Have tried similar freeware but keep coming back to this. It helps to peer under the hood, though, to really discover all the uses. [alert admin]

Geneforge 4: Rebellion 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)
While the graphics and sound are less than advanced (though they have improved noticeably over the life of the series), if you want to immerse yourself in a deep RPG, you want to look at this game. The demo is very generous so you have no excuse not to check it out. And bonus: it plays well on older machines, and is very stable. [alert admin]

CleanMyMac 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Most if not all of the glowing reviews seem to be from the Ukrainian fan club for this software. They are one-off reviewers with bad grammar. The listed price is also for a 6 month license; you have to pay $50 if you want it forever. Check out the site. It might be legit but some of the practices make me question putting a piece of software like this on my computer which gives unfettered access to my data. Just saying.... [alert admin]

CleanApp 3.0.5 (Mac OS X)
Have tried quite a few application uninstallers and, frankly, a lot of them won't show you all the folders and files that are associated with an application. This one does seem to give you a complete list, though, due to it's logging feature, and it makes it very easy to delete or archive software you don't want to use anymore. Quite useful for people who like to try out a lot of demos or shareware, but don't like the detritus from them sitting on their hard drive forever. [alert admin]

iBackup 6.6 (Mac OS X)
I find this to be a very stable, reliable and easy-to-use backup program, with good documentation. While it doesn't do clones (duplicates of your hard drive) it is very useful for User folders and/or system and application preferences, Mail, etc, and is therefore an excellent value for someone who is looking for a basic backup. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. [alert admin]

Synk Standard 6.4.3 (Mac OS X)
I find this product to be very reliable. I use it to backup/sync my Users folder from laptop to a desktop, and it has been easy to work with. I started by syncing a few smaller folders until I got the hang of the settings, but it backs up over a network just fine, even mounting the disk on the other Mac. [alert admin]

Avernum 5 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)
If you like fantasy, monsters, magic, strange lands, mysterious bad guys, and an epic story, this game might be for you. Don't look for amazing 3-D, blow-you-away graphics and sound in a 26MB download, but that's part of the beauty. It's a very good game in a compact format, with a good tutorial to get you started so you can jump right into it and play. You can follow the main story mostly, or go on numerous side quests to buff yourself up or gain more items and treasures. The territory you cover is huge and the story long, so it is a very good value. Not a lot of trash monsters either--ones that are there only to annoy you and not much else. But don't worry, there's still plenty of baddies to pummel, if that's what you want. [alert admin]

Replying to myself, I can see all the tags in the search window now. For some reason, when I first opened the search window by double-clicking the application icon, it didn't show any previously used tags. When I resized the window with the green button, they showed up.

Yes, it has to stay running to use the logging feature, but to tell you the truth, I didn't notice a problem with it hogging memory, even on a G3 ibook, and that's pretty good.

Is it indespensible? It depends on what you want. Pando must be installed by the sender and reciever. Also, FileChute is incredibly easy to use and convenient. How will you know if it's for you? Easy--try the demo.

The package is a trial. It just puts a watermark over your work. It's easy enough to delete later if you don't like it.
