Hibernate 1.00 (Mac OS X)

Filling a gap that Apple should have

While hibernation may be worth having to some, it annoys me to no end. If you read the developer's site, you will understand why he updated this and released this - 1) we don't have alternate batteries and won't be swapping, and more importantly 2) we HATE the lengthy delay to sleep. I am a longtime Powerbook user and have always enjoyed the nearly instant sleep/wake aspect of the machine. After upgrading to a intel 'book I was stunned by how long it took for the light to begin pulsing, letting me know the computer / hard drive was sleeping and I could safely put it in my bag. If you read Apple's support forums, you can see lots of postings from people with premature deaths to their hard drives, and lots of speculation that moving the computer before the drive truly sleeps is the culprit. While I figured out how to change this 'feature' in the terminal (pmset and hibernatemode) myself, this is a great GUI to allow anyone to access these settings. Frankly, Apple should have done this themselves. Kudos to you! [alert admin]

stick with ppc and rosetta - the omission of the rc5 encryption is a total joke. [alert admin]
