GLUON ProPack 7.02 (Mac OS X)
It's good but..........................
when your system keeps crashing and the work can't get out because something in Gluon ProPack crashes Quark call tech support and get their answering service. Really nice product when it does not shred your work. I have used Gluon products for years and they keep getting less reliable. We stopped using their slugger as it kept crashing quark files in the middle of our production cycle. The advertising agency i work for needs files going out, not crash and burn. Cropster is the best of the Quark plugins ever. I wish it was reliable. Slugger is a problem for us and the other toys are not used often, if at all. No plugin is expected to be trouble free, but calling tech support when the file is on deadline and the system crashes with the plugins and their response is to send in an email request that can be forwarded on the tech support should give you pause before your buy. When they tell you "it" was fixed in the new version, just remember they have said that before. the comment here is — beware. No tips are required to trouble shoot my system, thank you and good luck. GLUON Slugger 6.29 (Mac OS X)
The elegance of slugger cannot be understated. Picking up dimensions from cropster is great and all the automatic information is wonderful. BUT we crash constantly. Data is dropped from the slug or the text box grows outside the page, fonts shrink and best yet -- it crashes quark 6.5 alot. Installation instructions were followed and do not function properly. More time is spent trying to fix slugger than doing the job. We have called their tech support and they no longer return our calls, saying we are the only ones having this problem. We have multiple machines running gluon products, slugger is the only nightmare. Vision's Edge makes similar software, not as elegant, but cheeper and probably work more reliability. They also have a quark 7 slug maker, gluon does not. Good night and good luck. [alert admin]

Painter 7.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
painter 7 and using ATM you must choose one or the other. The new painter will not launch with ATM loaded in the active extensions folder. I'm returning my upgrade until they fix the problem. If they don't why upgrade. Painter 6's type was bad, now it's impossible. Good Luck> [alert admin]
