StuffIt Standard Edition 8.0.1 (Mac OS X)
from Aladdin Support: StuffIt Deluxe for Mac, StuffIt Standard for Mac Q: I just installed Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and now some or all of my StuffIt 8.x products are not functioning properly. A: Panther installs StuffIt Expander 7.0.3 and supporting StuffIt 7 components. The Panther installer does not see that there are newer StuffIt components on the machine. Some of your StuffIt 8 components will be overwritten. The solution is simple. Reinstall your StuffIt 8 product using the original installer. Now run the latest StuffIt 8.x Updater installer available on the StuffIt Deluxe Updates Page, then log out and back in again after installation. As of this writing there is an 8.0.1 Updater available. Check the site periodically for new Updaters that fix specific issues that arise. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.2.8 build 6R73 (Mac OS X)
Before installing the 10.2.8 update I did a Repair Permissions... and then found the .dmg file wouldn't mount, although it seemed to be decompressing... After looking a bit further it seemed that the "Repair" actually messed up my permissions and so the .dmg file couldn't be mounted. After running Repair Permissions a second time, all seems to be fine. [alert admin]
