IPNetRouter 1.6.5 (Mac OS 9)

This Application single-handedly…

makes a market for Mac 7200s. With a 7200 and a sceond ethernet card and IPNR, you can have a firewall, a web server (using Apple's Personal Web sharing) an FTP server (using NetPresenz (Free) and a mail server (using Eudora Internet Mail Server 1.3 (Free) all for 90 bucks plus perhaps another 90 for the 7200. An ISP would charge you more than 180 bucks in setup fees alone, not to mention a monthly charge that high for what you can set up your self in 30 minutes starting from a blank hard disk. The best shareware fee I ever paid. [alert admin]

From a discussion…

with Iomega Tech Support: (I give five stars because the Tools application and Iomega Driver seem to work flawlessly but it averages to two stars because the tech support people are so clueless.) Iomega Tech Support: Thank you for contacting Iomega's online support services. How may I help you? Me: I just downloaded Iomegaware 3.5 for the Macintosh OS9.2. What is the purpose of Active Disk for the Mac? Under Windows, software has to modify the registry so it can run so I see a need for Active Disk Technology. On the Mac, you can just copy any application to a zip disk and it will run just fine. This has been true since the beginning of the Mac. What does Active Disk do on the Macintosh? I just don't understand. Iomega Tech Support: One moment please. Me: What is the purpose of Active Disk on the Macintosh? (Please read my first post.) Iomega Tech Support: Active Disk Technology enables you to run selected software directly from your Zip disk without installing the software on your computer, saving hard disk space. All information you save will be stored on the Zip disk as well. You can transport the software and all the files to any computer. All software using Active Disk is supported by the respective software manufacturer. We do not support anything but the Active Disk software Me: I understand what you're saying, but Mac users have been able to install and run software onto and from zip disks without installing thatŠ [alert admin]
