ThinkArch 1.1 (Mac OS X)

More than a backup for your email

Email piles up over the years and slows down your email software. What to do with it? This program gives you more than a backup. When you use ThinkArch to archive your messages to DevonThink Pro you can quickly search and read old messages. You can choose between export your messages or archiving them (export and delete). It is necessary to have DevonThink Pro since DevonThink Personal does not support applescript, which ThinkArch uses to archive/export your messages. You can select which DTP database you want the messages sent to. You can set date filters: file everything after a certain date and/or before another date. There is also a setting 'relative to current date, like 'more than one year old'. You can choose which folders to export/archive, and (through the menu) select or deselect all folders and save the current set of folders. It is also possible to schedule regular archive operations but I have not used this option yet. I've found that this new version is quite fast and it handles the different filter settings well (choosing Entourage folders and a date range). It is a very useful program. [alert admin]

ConceptDraw MINDMAP 4.5 (Mac OS X)

works intuitively

I love Conceptdraw. It works intuitively and gives you a lot of control over the brainstorming process. It is easy to add new branches without having to switch between mouse and keyboard. There are several ways to insert new topics/branches: both in the outline (text) view and the map (graphic) view and with the topic wizard. The ability to use and make templates of often-performed types of brainstorm sessions is great. I don't use the program to add graphics so I can't comment on the ease of use of that part. Overall it helps me very well to order my thoughts. When I'm done I can export the outline to Word to fill in the outline with text for a speech. Recommended! [alert admin]

ConceptDraw *censored* (NO Customer service)

I would think that a little patience is recommended. Just not getting a response for more than a week sounds bad but there might be reasons for it. Or were there some problems (e.g. were you not able to show you had bought the software, or did you not register it, etc.) that may have delayed the customer service you expected? Please wait a while and give them more time to resolve your issue before posting…
