AppDelete 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Update within Program if Already Purchased

If you have already purchased v3.0, don't use the Download Now link here in VersionTacker as you'll get the trial version. Instead, launch your full (paid-for) AppDelete v3.0 and use the Check for Updates in the AppDelete menu. That way what you'll get is the full (paid-for) version of this latest update. [alert admin]

CopyPaste Pro 2.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Copy Paste Pro (Remains) Great; A Must-Have for Me

Working great for me. (I'm now running Snow Leopard, v10.6.1, but my opinion has been the same under previous Operating Systems.) One of my few "must-have" utilities as having a very-large number of clipboards (the "history") along with selected clips just being a keystroke combination away (43 per "archive") provides an enormous enhancement to my Mac. I readily recognize just how much worse off I'd be without this utility. As for the complaints posted regarding the User Interface (UI), I--for one--find it works well and appreciate that the developers have listened to feedback regarding the alternative presentations of the saved information and given users the flexibility in the Preferences to choose which they want shown and which means (e.g., menu bar, Dock, palettes) to get to it. Saft 12.0.0 Public Beta 2 (Mac OS X)

Upgrade to Saft for Snow Leopard is $8 (US)

While notwithstanding the $12 that still shows as its price at this time on the VersionTracker page and the $15 price that appears if you try to do a straight order from the developer's Web page for ordering Saft <http://haoli.dnsalias.com/Saft/Order/>, that same page has: "To upgrade and manage your download accounts, please go to the account management page.". For me, from that account management page (which shows me currently licensed for Saft_Leopard), when I click on the PayPal link under "Upgrade via PayPal", I'm presented with an $8 unit price for "saft_snow_leopard_upgrade". Safari AdBlock 0.4.0 RC3 (Mac OS X)

Works if Safari Opens in 32-bit Mode

As ben.mcgann pointed out in his reply to an earlier post about this not working, once I did a Get Info on the Safari application (with Safari not running) and enabled the "Open in 32-bit mode", a subsequent launch of Safari v4.0.3 then showed AdBlock in the Safari Preferences. [alert admin]

SpamSieve 2.7.5 (Mac OS X)

Brilliant Software; Makes E-Mail Spam an Insignificant Issue

I had long ago tried other Spam-filtering options--but never wanting to abdicate that to ISP-offered, server-based, solutions where I couldn't locally see just what was going on--but once I found SpamSieve, I was "hooked". After the simple training process--which is clearly described--it just worked! Bottom Line: A far better than 99% accuracy in handling Spam for me and an absolute bargain at the price. (I hope that RTM32 takes advantage of the technical support offered by the developer in their reply to RTM32's 1-star rating. I have to believe there's something basically wrong in how RTM32 is using SpamSieve.) For what it's worth, some statistics for me for this year to date are that I received 7,772 messages of which 46% were identified by SpamSieve as Junk. (I'm sure others have been besieged by a far higher percentage.) Of those identified as Junk, there were only 13 messages that were false positives--and once I identified them to SpamSieve is "Not Junk", following examples of them were put directly into my Inbox. On the other side of the matter, only 50 messages that I considered Junk weren't, initially, so identified by SpamSieve--and once I told SpamSieve they were "Junk", their successor e-mails went directly to my Junk. As this posting's title says: Brilliant! [alert admin]

iClock Pro 1.0b21 (Mac OS X)

Fruitful-for-me Beta; Works as if a Full Release

This beta cleared the one glitch I had with earlier betas (needing to re-enable the menu extras after a restart) and I'm delighted with all the new features. iClock has been a must-have for me for a long time and, at least for me, with this beta it's doing all that I want from it. [alert admin]

Saft 11.0.0 Public Beta (Mac OS X)

"Simple Update" Didn't Reveal v11.0; Manual Process Worked

The much applauded simple process for updating your Saft installation (i.e., choose "Saft Update. . ." from the Saft application menu when Saft has been launched) didn't work for me this time. (It had with prior upgrade.) When I did that this time, I was told that my installed v10.5.7 was the current version. I went to the developer's site <http://haoli.dnsalias.com/Saft/Download/index.html> and then clicked on the "here" in the "Download the latest Saft for Leopard and Safari 4 from here.". That downloaded the .dmg file with v11.0--with which I then routinely installed it, replacing the v10.5.7 application. When I then launched Saft, it still recognized my prior licensing and I was set to use Saft with Safari's v4 Public Beta. [alert admin]

GraphicConverter 6.4 (Mac OS X)

Great Functionality at Great Price with Great Support

Latest upgrade continues the long-standing great support for this application. I stick mostly to the more-basic tools, but it's wonderful to have such a broad range of features available when needed. A previous feedback took serious issue with the user interface (UI), but while I agree there's room for improvement in that area, for me, this program's great, 5-star, functionality--even with the current UI--warrants more than a 2-star overall rating. DoubleCommand 1.6.7 (Mac OS X)

Kernel Panic During Install

Installer caused kernel panic as soon as it began the installer script. (Downloaded installer, again, directly from the developer’s Web site; again got the kernel panic.) [alert admin]

PopChar X 4.1.1 (Mac OS X)

“What’s New” for v4.1.1

While there’s no “What's new in this version” here in VersionTracker, here’s what I found at the developer’s site <http://www.ergonis.com/products/popcharx/history.html>: PopChar X v 4.1.1 (November 2008) - Changes since v 4.1: Works around a problem with inserting characters in FreeHand 10. Fixes a performance bottleneck caused by repeated access to certain preferences. Fixes an occasional crash when expanding or collapsing Unicode groups. Solves a problem that caused inserted characters to appear with a shadow in certain Carbon applications. German localization now contains the correct quotes. [alert admin]

How to properly install Tech Tracker, since the installer doesn't...

[OS 10.6.1 on MacBookPro2,2] Didn't have any problem using the installer on my computer. While I didn't check for any other files, I do now have a CNET TechTracker folder in my Applications folder. That CNET TechTracker folder contains a CNET TechTracker Uninstaller folder and the CNET TechTracker.app. And when I launch that app, it seems to be doing what it's supposed to do. (No manual moving of anything; no PrefPane involved.) Sidebar: I have provided feedback…

WHY IS THERE STILL NOT A SNOW LEOPARD SPECIFIC CATEGORY YET?

I suggest, JAS 66, that you're missing the point being made in the original feedback. This isn't about this one specific software, but that VersionTracker hasn't provided for the stipulation of Snow Leopard (v10.6) in their Operating System Requirements section for anything in their database. Some developers had included the applicability of Snow Leopard in their comments in other sections (as is the case here with OnyX where the developer has had to use the…

I upgraded from v1.4b1 to this b2 and didn't need to do anything manually; it just worked after the stipulated logout/login. [MacBook Pro, OS v10.6.1]

Downloaded .dmg Won't Mount

Ditto. When trying to mount the Flip4Mac-WMV-2.3.0.11-BETA.dmg, my OS (v10.6.1) reports it finds no mountable file systems. (Same result when doing the download directly from the developer's site.)

No Problem with this Version

Downloaded, installed--replacing prior Leopard version (which, under Snow Leopard, reported it needed OS v10.5), and launched this v4.5 without any problem under Snow Leopard.

Snow Leopard compatibility?

Although now overtaken by events in that v2.1 notes it specifically provides compatibility with Snow Leopard (64-bit), for the record, my v2.0.9 ran without any obvious-to-me problems under Snow Leopard (v10.6). (Note: From what I've been pointed to in the Apple literature, it appears that--at least at this time--for most of us we wouldn't note any difference in performance if an application were in 32-bit, versus 64-bit, mode.)

Once again charged for a simple update

1. While not a software developer, from what other developers have said, adjusting to Snow Leopard (from Leopard) isn't necessarily a "simple update" where it entails input-related software. 2. While the README file accompanying this beta release has not been fully updated to address the pricing--much seems still to be what accompanied a Leopard release--nor has the Price on the VersionTracker page been updated from what's still showing as $12, nor is there currently a link…

32 bit

Having already been through the use-32-bit vice 64-bit for Safari in regard to the Snow-Leopard-compatible Spell Catcher Pro and having been pointed to what Apple has written with regard there most-commonly being little impact on 32-bit use at this time, I--for one--have no issue with having to use Safari in 32-bit mode if that were the only issue with maintaining the Saft functionality--at least, initially. (What the cost of the Saft upgrade will be, however,…

Kernel Panic During Install

Oops; should have reported that I got in touch with the developer a couple of weeks ago via the on-line forum for DoubleCommand. After I performed a couple of tests for him, he pinned down that my problem was when the installer went to unload the kext for my installed v1.6.3. I'm now happily running v1.6.7.
