MusicLover 0.5 (Mac OS X)

Interesting...

I need to move beyond the mainstream with my collection.... but this tool won't help. For example, I type in "Johnny Cash" and I get "Radiohead", "Pink Floyd" and "Elvis" among others... So I guess "Weezer" is more similar to "Johnny Cash" than Wilco or Springsteen... I really like the idea. It is well written. It just doesn't do what it was made to do. Type in a few artists and you would think that Nirvana and U2 were related to nearly every modern artist. I suspect relying on music-sharers is not a good way to go if you want to broaden your horizons. (I typed in Kevin Bacon and got no hits... guess he's not connected to everyone after all.) QuarkXPress 6.0 (Mac OS X)

I think I'll wait...

I think I'll wait until they get the bugs worked out of this release before upgrading. That should take.... uh... about 6 years. [alert admin]

Apple QuickTime 6.3 (Mac OS X)

Windows Media?

Complaining that QT doesn't play Windows Media Files is basically the same thing as complaining that your Ford Festiva seat covers don't fit on your Lexus.

To the reviewer whining about Windows Media support: Have you read a newspaper lately? There's this company called Microsoft... oh I give up.

All I know is that QT looks better than Real and Windows Media. Now that the AOL/MS settlement is poised to crush the slightly superior Real media... It's good to know that there is an even better alternative... even if, as usual, the masses will accept and adopt mediocrity.

Thanks again Apple. More goodies for me. [alert admin]

Download it here...

The "Buy" link is part of a weird marketing strategy....confuse the customers and hide the free product. I'm all for the Real folks making a buck. But there are some of us who only use Real and Windows Media when sites for us to. So here's the download link that they should have provided in the first place: http://207.188.7.150/02cc4e87f1b9593a9704/mac/rp8-setup.hqx [alert admin]
