OK-Writer 1.0 (Mac OS X)
My son is 5 1/2 and in the early stages of learning how to read. He has quite a bit of fun just typing in words that he knows and then having OK-Writer read it back to him. Being able to play with the sizes, colors, and fonts is just the icing on the cake for him. :) The buttons all have cute little sounds they make when you click them, I think he sometimes hits them just to hear the sounds. the description when I posted this that it is a web-based application and you need to use Terminal to install it on your web server (you would need to be using your Mac OS X box as a web server to use this), but VersionTracker felt the need to trim that out of the description when they approved it for some reason....
