Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 (Mac OS X)
Hi. Does anyone know if there will be a lower upgrade price for those of us who currently own PS Elements 6? Right now, anyone can preorder PSE v8 for $20 off the list price, so that's not an upgrade price. I've scoured Adobe's site but can't find any info about this. Thanks. [alert admin]

SMART Utility 1.1 (Mac OS X)
SMART Utility - it DOES find a faulty drive
Hi. Where SMART Reporter and Disk Utility reported that my 2nd hard drive was OK, in fact it isn't. Two days ago, the hard drive crashed with serious errors and lost data. Tech Tool Pro reported that it had hundreds of surface scan errors and unreadable directory. Yet Disk Utility still said the disk was fine. SMART Reporter is the only one that said the drive FAILED. The drive is still inoperable (or at least very flaky), but Disk Utility and SMART Reporter think the disk is OK. Everytime I write something to the disk, it fails. David [alert admin]

I've been using this since version 2 with very few problems. Setting it up the first time was a bit confusing, but only because I don't know anything about networks, etc. However, the author has been very quick to help me with every step, and the forum members are very generous and fast with their help. After I got it set up and working (which took only a few hours), I've never had any problems with it. If you want to share all or just a few of your iTunes libraries or tracks, this is a great app at a very reasonable price with excellent support. [alert admin]

When I first downloaded Dot-Tunes, I had a few problems getting it to work. I sent the author (Jeff) email, and he promptly responded for me to contact him through AIM, which I did. Within a few minutes, he was able to determine what I needed to do. Dot-Tunes was up and running perfectly. Then about a week ago, Dot-Tunes "mysteriously" stopped working from any outside computer. I could access it using the internal IP, but not from an external one. Once again, I contacted Jeff tonight using AIM. He spent well over an hour helping me, even remotely logging in, going over my router settings, etc. He tracked down the problem (my router settings were the problem, not Dot-Tunes). I am once again up and running. I've used lots of software over the years, and talked with many authors for tech support. But Jeff took more time and was more patient and interested in solving my problem than any author has ever been. Jeff is actively working on Dot-Tunes and adding user requests. In the short month since I paid for the software, I've already seen additions and improvements in the program. Thanks again, Jeff. Great software. Perfect support. A+ [alert admin]

This software is great and solves a long-standing problem. But the real question is "Why hasn't Apple FIXED this problem in 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, . . .?
