SantaSnaps 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Would be nice if the user could move the items around to better fit their head, but a good first effort. [alert admin]

Serene Saver 1.31 (Mac OS X)
I installed this on both my G5 dual 2 GHz, and my Intel 2 GHz Dual-Core, both with the latest 10.4.6. The G5 is fine, although does seem a bit stretched on a 23" display. But on the MacBook Pro, the entire computer went wonky. Screen mostly blank, couldn't see any of the the menu's nor anything on the Desktop. Had to hard reboot into Safe Mode to remove the Serene Saver.saver file, then I was able to get control back. I will say, it does look very cool and will probably buy. But I think I'll wait a little while before I try on my laptop again. [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2004 11.0 (Mac OS X)
It amazes me that 95% of the world relies on a company such as Microsoft, when clearly they offer very little in support options to their clients. I consider myself among the fortunate few who only need to rely on them for a few, replaceable applications, in my case, Office 2004. I have noticed several instabilities in Office 2004, yet I can find no reasonable means to contact M$ to either alert them to a problem or seek a resolution. I find it outrageous that my choices seem to be limited to PAYING for the privilege of doing their work for them. I can only hope that over time their stranglehold will diminish. For those interested, my copy of Office 2004 will periodically give me a warning that it can’t launch, due to a serial number conflict. When I get this message, a) Office is already running, and b) there is no network and so there could not be another computer using the same SN. When this happens, my only recourse has been to quit the app and relaunch it, always without that warning coming up. I don’t suspect an OS issue, since I have done a clean install since installing Office. Just a strange bug… [alert admin]

Kids Server 1.2.5 (Mac OS X)
How can you call something Shareware and then charge $180.00 & up for it? Call it what it is, Commercial Software. [alert admin]

Dantz Retrospect 6.0 (Mac OS X)
In addition to not being able to use my old 5.x scripts, now I can't even access my FTP Server. I know the server works, because my clients can use it with Retrospect 5.x, and I can from the Finder or with other software. I actually beta tested 1.0 of this software and have used it since, 10+ years. I doubt I'll continue to do so much longer. [alert admin]

HP OfficeJet G series 4.6.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
told by HP Tech Support that this software (v 5.5.6) should NOT be used. Simply, he said "it's bad software and it just doesn't work right". HP will pull shortly. [alert admin]

What gives? 6.0.5 was announced here on VT on 14 December 2004, but remains unavailable
They pulled it the same day. I installed it and could not log in; kept getting an error saying the license had expired when it had not. I spoke with a support person after the install hosed my 6.0.4 install and he suggested reverting back to 6.0.4. I did and everything was fine again.
