Mouse Locator 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I use two adjacent 23-inch flat panel displays, and quite often I can't find the mouse cursor, so this software does help, and being free, it's hard to complain! However I feel it does the wrong thing. What would be better would be a mouse cursor that lights up, or flashes (instead of being surrounded by concentric circles) - and which does this when you shake the mouse, a la xGestures. As it is, however I tweak the configurations, the luminescent circles just appear too often, and get annoying (doubly annoying, because sometimes you do need it, but only sometimes). But kudos to the developer for the free software! [alert admin]

MacJournal 5.1b5 (Mac OS X)
The ability to have the entries show on the right, effectively making 3 horizontally adjacent panes, was exactly was I was looking for, so I eagerly downloaded the 5.1b5. There is a problem using that view, however: the right-hand-side entries pane doesn't resize properly - it stays too wide! Glad to see this option though, and hope the resizing bugs will be ironed out soon! One brilliant app! [alert admin]

You Control: Desktops 1.3 b5 (Mac OS X)
This thing about this app is that, although it looks very promising and useful, the Leopard beta (1.3 b5) completely fails to cut the mustard because of major bugs. The hot keys you set to cycle between the desktops regularly stop working. You can get them working again by selecting a different desktop from the menubar menu, but that defeats the point of hot keys. The pictures associated with each desktop regularly get mixed up - for instance, one desktop which had its own picture will suddenly show the picture of a different desktop, so you have to reset it. The same happens with the desktop icons. All in all the 'remembering' features don't work reliably at all. The "identify current desktop" command very often fails to show anything. It's not entirely clear how the app interacts with Spaces. So there are at the moment major issues with this non-freeware beta software. It would be nice if Apple extend their Spaces feature to accommodate some of this app's features. [alert admin]

Butler 4.1.3 Transient (Mac OS X)
This is my one absolute "must-have" for my Mac! I feel lost without it, so the Leopard update is very welcome!!! Excellent program. [alert admin]

MenuCalendarClock for iCal 3.0 (Mac OS X)
version 3 functionality remains unlocked after registration
Version 3 is supposed to add the functionality of being able to edit iCal To Dos from a preference, but this tells me I'm unregistered - even though I am registered. No reply from developer. [alert admin]

iSynCal 5.6.2 (Mac OS X)
This thing is rubbish. The interface is crap, and it leaves invisible files on your hard drive. [alert admin]

Sticky Windows 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Looked great.. but: clicked one of its tabbed windows, then minimized this window to the dock, later clicked the tabbed window again and closed it, but the window in the dock was totally stuck - required a restart. Also, conflicts with MaxMenus. [alert admin]

Padlock 2.0.3 (Mac OS X)
Trying this out, I thought it was pretty good - until I protected a word-processing program... a window of this program was open, and although "locked out" I found that by simply using the application switch command-tab, one could still cycle to the program and see its page! So, not so good... [alert admin]

InputManagers f name changed by installer, broke other pgms!
This happened to me, too, so thanks for the tip! Now, I have Safari 3.0.4 installed with Leopard on my PowerBook, and I'd like to install Inquisitor on that, too (since it is advertised as compatible with Leopard). But I notice in Leopard there is no folder "~/Library/InputManagers". What do I do?
