Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6 (Mac OS X)
It's a pity that Thunderbird still does not use Apple's address Book. There are a few ways to import the addresses. That's good. But it's not enough. Thunderbird should really use Apple's AB, and not have its own. [alert admin]

Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6 (Mac OS X)
Well, we can set some options for email composing, but we are still not able to compose in plain text by default. At least not using the options given by the GUI. I have published once a tip for "how to compose emails in Plain Text instead of HTML". Here it is again, more precise. If you want thunderbird to compose emails in plain-text format by default, you can edit the file mailnews.js. To find this file, go the directory /Applications/, right-click (or control-click or long-click) the application thunderbird and choose "Display content", then go to Contents, MacOS, defaults, pref. Drag the file mailnews.js to the application "SimpleText". Find the line pref("mail.identity.default.compose_html", true); Change it to pref("mail.identity.default.compose_html", false); Restart thunderbird. [alert admin]

RBrowser 3.3.4 (Mac OS X)
RBrowser is quite a nice product. But why would I use it (and pay for it) instead of Fugu, which is at least as good, and free? [alert admin]

Poisoned 0.515 (Mac OS X)
Poisoned is quite a good app, but it still cannot share subfolders. Thus, i cannot share my iTunes folder, or I would have to enter each subfolders of it, but I do not want to do that since it changes quite often. So I do not share anything. And I feel bad about that. Thanks god, most people on Gnutella and other networks do not use Poisoned. [alert admin]

RemoteCapture 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Hey Tuqqer, I have found half of the answer to our question. On the page http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX?14@142.W4draZqZbt8.13@.599e8fbc/0 They will tell you how to know your IP. (by going on the website http://www.whatismyip.com/ ) However, there is still a problem: This IP is actually the one of your router, not of your computer. So how to configure the router so that it fowards any incomming traffic on the port 2000 to the computer? I don't have an answer to that yet, but as soon as i have it, I will post it here. It would be great: I would finally find some use to the Apache server that comes with OSX. If I ever find out, of course... Best regards, Daniel. [alert admin]

RemoteCapture 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Well, it seems like nobody is really willing to help... Thanks for the tip "don't forget to add the :2000 at the end of the url". That is not the problem. My question is: How does somebody from the outside see my desktop? Say I live in Mexico. I am connected to the internet. I would like my friend in Sweden to see my desktop. He needs to know my IP address. How do I get to know it? Maybe I should do something else. I read something about "opening a port (2000)". What is a port? How do I open it? The smallest hint would be welcome. Daniel [alert admin]

How do I get to know my IP Address?
This application sounds cool, but how do I get to know my internet IP Address? I am connected trough a DSL connexion. When I look in the System Preferences Panel, on the tab "Network", I see an IP, but this is only my IP on the network that is formed by my computer and my router. This IP is, i believe, something like 192.168.1.1 for the router and 192.168.1.2 for my iBook. But how could somebody from the outside connect to my computer? I don't get that. Any help is welcome. Thank you, Daniel [alert admin]

Mozilla Thunderbird 0.4 (Mac OS X)
If you want thunderbird to compose emails in plain-text format by default, you can edit the file mailnews.js. To find this file, go in the directory where thunderbird is installed, and then go to defaults/pref/. Open the file, and find the line pref("mail.identity.default.compose_html", true); Change it to pref("mail.identity.default.compose_html", false); Restart thunderbird. Maybe one day it will be possible to specify this through the preferences panel... [alert admin]

Good, but what network mischief?
Swift, could you briefly explain how you saw that a game network was using your machine? Where did you look to see that? And where did you see the "possibly unfriendly" requests to your machine? I'm just a guy who knows nothing and who would like to be able to tell if somebody is trying to missuse my machine. Thank you.
