Hulu Desktop 0.9.4 (Mac OS X)

Great! But can't stop autoplay!

Wow, fantastic quality, remote control, easier than Miro to use except... how do you stop the auto-play from firing up when you launch it? Excellent app all around, and if Bravo will ever "get it" about digital distribution, Hulu Desktop might keep people off bittorrent. [alert admin]

Microsoft Silverlight 2.0.40115.0 (Mac OS X)

No installation issues, beautiful work

No problem with installation (Aluminum MacBook Pro). I wasn't a fan of Silverlight when it was the engine for the live games on MLB.com (since been replaced by Flash) but I just watched a "guided tour" of seven galaxies on the World Wide Telescope site and I was absolutely blown away. Okay haterz, it uses Microsoft technology, but if Silverlight allows Mac users to experience astronomy like this, I fully embrace it. Amazing stuff. http://www.worldwidetelescope.org/webclient/ [alert admin]

AirRadar 1.1.7 (Mac OS X)

New fee but no new features!

AirRadar is a simple and unsophisticated app which tells you just a little bit more than what you'll get from the built-in apple software. It has nowhere near the power of apps such as Kismac and APGrapher (which I recommend), both of which are both free. The developer has added a fee to this product but not provided a single new feature. Even worse, installing overwrites the previous version, then asks you to pay for it after the fact, so I can't review this release at all because there is no trial period. And I can't revert to the previous release because it's been overwritten. Ultimately, I don't care. There are way better programs out there that don't cost a dime. But my one-star review (and many others I'm sure) will send this program to the bottom of the Versiontracker junk pile. [alert admin]

Transmission 1.52 (Mac OS X)

This update is locking up

I'm a long time Transmission user and highly recommend it. However, this particular update is freezing up when Safari accesses any data off the Web. Have to force shut-down. Reproducible freeze, this message keeps showing in the log: Apr 13 02:11:38 damon-campagnas-macbook-pro-2 [0x0-0x15015].com.apple.Safari[191]: Debugger() was called! Mozilla Firefox 3.0.8 (Mac OS X)

Vast improvement

To echo macfan1138, I can't explain the issues people say they have with this release. I have an aluminum MacBook Pro and had no issues with installation. I haven't had any problems with rendering or video streaming at all. So far, it's rock solid and launch time is dramatically improved. Rendering and browsing speed, as well as Javascript/AJAX functionality is on par with Chrome. Best release on 3.0.x yet, enough where I'll *finally* use Firefox again as my daily browser. I love the browser wars! Apple Safari team: step it up! [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 8.1 (Mac OS X)

More responsive, no problems

Installation went smoothly and without incident. Definitely more responsive and with little or no lag switching between categories. HD Video runs smoothly (tested on Battlestar Galactica purchase from iTMS) and now includes "Surround Sound" option. Haven't tried to sync my iPod yet, but so far an all-around improvement. No good...

It's true, I can't get CNN to play either. Could be a fault on either CNN or Adobe's part. Surprised it could come out of beta and never be tested on CNN, though.

Import not enough

It is frustrating...often I export addresses as LDIF and manually import to OS X Address book, but sometimes I'm just behind on it.

WTF, Over

I guess you haven't used much p2p lately. There are a lot of bots creating spoof files "on the fly" in respone to searches. All p2p clients are subject to it, thus the developer's attempts toward spam control.
