XMenu 1.9 (Mac OS X)

Great Utility

I hadn't heard of XMenu until today, and already I'm hooked. Great little utility that brings back the power of Apple's OS 9 Application menu. I don't care how pretty the Dock looks, it's really not much of a productivity enhancement, and even worse I hate chasing a moving target with my cursor. I've created my own user defined XMenu and I'm pretty sure I won't be using the Dock as much anymore. The only think it doesn't do that the Application Menu did was indicate which applications are currently running. No biggee... But the price sure is right: free. You get a lot more than what you paid for with XMenu. Thanks!!! [alert admin]

DVD Cache 0.49 (Mac OS X)

0.49 Update is good!

DVD Cache is coming along nicely. Very useful. Suggestions for new features include: Being able to search by field and using an Advanced search function; Adding "Anamorphic Widescreen" to the list of Adding Aspect Ratio list. Adding a "Disk Type" field to the Advanced tab ("DVD-5", "DVD-9", etc.), support for additional cover scans (large front cover and/or back cover) and the ability to copy & paste into those picture fields. Just got my…

new G4/867 dual with 10.2.1 and was hoping not to have to use Classic much, but ShrinkWrap locks up my new G4 pretty good when I try to use it. Also has a lot of problems with 9.2.2 os well. Shrinkwrap used to be the absolute king of disk images, now it's just an abandoned has-been. Bummer. [alert admin]

Iomega Mac Driver 3.0.4 (Mac OS 9)

The Iomega Driver…

3.0.9 has a serious flaw where it causes the Mac to process keyboard input much slower after waking up from sleep. The problem also exists in the 3.0.8 version. I've seen it occur on PCI G4s, AGP G4s, PCI G3s with a variety of USB keyboards. The problem goes away only upon reboot with the Iomega Driver disabled. It's odd because the computer still benchmarks out at the same speed using Norton System Info. It's almost like the driver corrupts the input delay (or repeat rate) on the keyboard. Reconnecting the keyboard on the same or different USB port has no effect. It's reproducable even when booting using "Mac OS 9.x Base" mode in the extensions Manager so it's not a conflict , it's definitely a bug in Iomega's Driver. [alert admin]

VisiGrafx, I think…

the problem is that there are a number of .avi compressors out there. Indeo is one, divx is another . To check, you can open the video in Quicktime Player and check the Video Track's Data Format in the Format pane. If it reads something other than Indeo (say DIV3 for instance) then this extension won't work. Try a Divx movie viewer instead such as DivX Player. [alert admin]
