RadioRocker 1.2.10 (Mac OS X)

Cheap enough...BUT

Good idea...but like many others this one needs a bit of work. Advertised as "listen to 5000 stations" but tons of stations don't work. Probably not the fault of the programmer...audio streams come and go. But in each new release he should weed out the ones that are off the air and then advertise a 'real' number. One bug that really needs fixing is that this program most times will stop playing in the background when I switch to another program (browser or email, or whatever). That's a deal breaker for me. And a bit of a sneaky thing is that the programmer keeps coming up with 'new' versions, but isn't specific about what has been changed or corrected..."Fixed issues with issues fixed in previous release." What the hell does that mean? Just a way to keep his program listed on VT every few days. I would stay away from this program for now. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2007-005v1.1 (Mac OS X)

Arrrrrrgh!

Installed the update and now neither my Logitech MX Revolution mouse or my Microsoft WIreless laser mouse work. The Operating system doesn't recognize either of them. Only the basic functions work ie: left, right click and scroll-nothing else. Apparently there has been a real problem with certain USB devices losing their connectivity. Sure hope someone comes up with a fix QUICK. [alert admin]

Tabula Rasa 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Nice. . .

This is a cute little program that does exactly what it says it will. Not sure what I'd use it for, but it's one of those programs that I want to keep on my Hard Drive. Only problem with it is that if you draw into any of the corners, the eraser doesn't quite reach those areas and small white marks are left which persist between sessions. Other than that, no problems and it's worth the download. [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 2.5 Build 3186.0 (Mac OS X)

Lots of problems

First of all, I agree. . .why can't Parallels give the new version info in version tracker like everyone else. It's a real pain in the a** to have to go to their site and try and find out what's new and whether a download is warranted. And secondly, I've been a registered user for more than six months and have yet to get Parallels to work properly. I've emailed customer support four times trying to get the problem resolved--Windows locks up my MacMini everytime it begins to load--but have yet to get a reply. It's very frustrating knowing what Parallels is capable of, versus, what it does to my system. A very dissatisfied user. [alert admin]

Blackjack International 1.16 (Mac OS X)

It's just okay. . .

Hey, it's a free app so I'll give it a break, but the graphics are from the mid '90s. Other than that it's okay. [alert admin]

SigAlert Traffic Maps 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)

Nice. . .

This really is a wonderful widget. Very useful and should be the model for all other widgets as far as functionality goes. One request, however. Could you make the rollover delay longer? Sometimes there's an accident with lots of information and the info window doesn't stay open long enough to absorb all the information. Other than that request, this widget needs nothing. Hydromancy 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Quite Nice

Not sure why everyone seems to be having a problem with this screensaver. It works quite nicely on my IntelMac Dual Core Mini. No crashes and it's a rather nice addition to my screensaver arsenal. [alert admin]

SEscree 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Why would anyone try this?

I find it amazing that anyone (there were 25 downloads so far today) would download software that they have no idea what it does. Can anyone tell me, from the developers description, what the heck this program is supposed to do? [alert admin]

Simply Outstanding. . .

This is one of the most professional and visually pleasing PMs that I've ever used. It is certainly worth trying out while in Beta. . .and you can't beat the price. For me, however, it's a bit of an overkill. I don't have a need for most of it's features. But for those who need to manage a bunch of projects or just one biggie, this program absolutely can't be beat. -Barry [alert admin]

Why would anyone try this?

Okay. . .I think I answered my own question. I still don't know what it does, however, I went to the developer's site and it looks legit. I suppose if you don't know what the program does then you don't need it. I certainly don't. But, people who know what it's for should probably try it. . .or not.

Version Tracker Widget

This is a TIGER 10.4 only feature. These widgets won't work in anything except TIGER. Try Konfabulator if you want to use widgets in Panther.
