Parallels Desktop 5.0 (Mac OS X)
Just to let everyone know, there is an alternative Virtual PC solution called 'VirtualBox' that does pretty much everything you could want, but is free. Gratis. Nada. Being open-source, the UI is a little on the techy unloved side, but it's really really fast, lightweight, small and supports things like copy-and-paste, full screen, etc... and, erm... not sure if I mentioned... IT'S FREE! If you're only running one or two Windows apps, and don't need games, it's a great choice. [alert admin]

Get 1.00 (Mac OS X)
Get v1.0 is very nice, well designed and implemented, but I'm not sure what it offers over Safari's existing functionality? It also isn't integrated with Safari, so I've got to make a conscious decision when downloading something to drag the download link to Get's dock icon. If it could integrate with Safari, I'd use it over Safari's built-in download, but I don't necessarily know why. ;-) Keep up the stella development work, though! [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.7 (Mac OS X)
Still doesn't resolve Safari 4 beta MSN bug
This update doesn't resolve the bug introduced with Safari 4 in MSN Messenger that prevents the cursor from remaining in the text edit box after you've sent a message. Come on MS, what have you been doing? [alert admin]

This app is great. I've been after something that was more fully-featured than Stickies, but essentially along the same lines. This app does everything I wanted. Brilliant! The only one new feature I need to make it completely 100% useful for me would be to add a setting to set the default window level for new stickies. Currently, I have to change this after creating the sticky. Not a big deal, but something that would be awesome. Also, the ability to remove little right tab that sticks out from the side of the sticky when it isn't foreground... my sticky looks a bit odd with a massive 'A' stuck out the side of it for each sticky! If these couple of items could be looked at, I'd gladly pay for this. Thanks! [alert admin]

If you can't wait for this excellent application to get updated, and you have a bit of skill with the OS X Terminal, try this: http://linuxcentre.net/?page_id=6 [alert admin]

GarageSale Basic 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Comments from a GarageSale user
I'm a GarageSale user, and it is true that I don't enjoy using it when I have to. I use it because it can produce the best eBay auction pages of any eBay designer app out there, but I must use only 60% of its functionality. To me, it has become bloated with features only frequent eBay sellers would need, and it's also really quite slow. GarageSale Basic, from the cursory five minute glance I've just given it, seems to pack all the features I actually use, but is light and nimble enough for me to maybe start enjoying using the GarageSale apps again. It didn't just pick up my registered serial code from GarageSale... and when I try to enter it manually, it isn't taking it. So I'm going to have to contact the vendors about that - which is a pain. I also agree with the previous poster that $25 is steep. If you're a frequent flyer, the proper GarageSale is worth $30, but this basic version certainly isn't losing $5 worth of functionality. This is worth $15-$20 max. [alert admin]

1080p on the Penryn Macbook Pro !
To chime in on this one: I too have tried to play back 1080p video using my AluMacBook and nothing I tried was able to play it back without dropping framerate seriously. Plex was the only app that could do it. It is a lovely interface, and it looks like it can play anything I throw at it. The only thing that is stopping me using it full-time is that I can't figure out how to…
