TinyBooks 3.0.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

I run two small businesses here in the UK, and have been maths phobic since my schooldays. I've tried both Quicken and MYOB and they are not intuitive enough for someone who dislikes swirling around in figures and invoices, and who doesn't have hours and hours spare to learn them and tailor them to my work. I downloaded Tinybooks and literally within 5 minutes began putting my accounts together. I now spend less than 15 minutes per day inputting my 'ins and outs' and I have everything at my fingertips. I have had only two queries and Ken was right back at me with the answer the same day. Compared to what my local accountant quoted me, I've now saved myself £440 this year alone - and my self generated tax return sailed through. Try it - If you don't download it, you won't know what we're all talking about. [alert admin]

Mariner Write 3.7.2 (Mac OS X)
Whilst your at it, try Mellel, and Thinkfree. The only thing I really like about this is its ability to show the actual font in the font menu, which others can't at the moment. [alert admin]

MiniTrans 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Has Versiontracker stopped hosting Easy Translator from lmhsoft.com? I downloaded it early last year and its exceptional and also free. Now it's nowhere to be found on the site. Shame really - it's a great little app to have on your Dock. [alert admin]

ThinkFree Office 3.1.0691 (Mac OS X)
No reply was the answer from this company!
I bought this app over a year ago when it was slower, nearly microsoft compatible, and cheap. Three months ago, my copy became corrupted, and I have repeatedly asked the company for a new registration key, but after many emails, they have still not replied. Looking at the app now, it seems to be a complete rewrite compared to last years offering, and I find it far faster and almost perfectly compatible with MSoffice - and I have both Neo and Open office apps on evaluation. I have bought apps from one man companies (Tinybooks) and small firms such as Belight in the Ukraine, who reply to a query within an hour, and provide free ongoing updates. These people don't seem to bother, or is it because they want me to pay them more money because they have rewritten it? Shame really - I want to give this five stars its so good, but I'm dinged if I'm going to fork out more money. [alert admin]

DayChaser 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)
Sick and tired of iCals quirks and lack of speed, I downloaded every calendar app I could find on VT. This was one of them. After only half an hours use, I knew I'd found what I wanted. A Calendar that I could programme easily and that I could mould around my business. No big bells or bloated whistles, this does the job perfectly and for $20 is well worth the money. I know iCal is free with OSX but it is far from the finished article. This is, and the backup/response from the developer can be measured in minutes it's that quick. I asked for a to do list and it followed in the next beta. Can't fault him. Don't believe me? Download it and give it a try. I did, and I bought it. [alert admin]

I've downloaded everything possible to find a simple, elegant note taking app, and just because the last feedback was posted in 2003, I've always thought SnapNotes pointless to download. I downloaded it an hour ago and it's a lovely bit of work. Nice interface, and rock solid under 10.4. If all you need is an open notebook on your desktop to catch ideas as they happen, or store passwords/URL's etc, you owe it to yourself to download this. 100% more useful than stickies. It's a wonder Apple haven't nicked it. And don't believe VersionTracker - SnapNotes has now been made freeware....why are you waiting? [alert admin]

I run two small businesses here in the UK, and spent weeks inside Versiontracker trying ALL (honestly)! of the billing apps available. I'm not a computer nut, and need all my time to earn money, rather than sit at my desk learning new software and sorting through the bloat that makes up most of the other apps I tried. Finding Timenet was the best half hours VT trawling I've done to date. I was up and running inputting my days work in less than 5 minutes, and its interface is so easy and intuitive I bought it on the spot. And for £17 over here in the UK it's a steal. Beleive me, if you want a classy billing app with exceptional support, buy this. The rest aren't even in the ballpark. [alert admin]

Fastest and Classiest Downloads Ever! ![]()

As with another user below, I have all the current browsers for the Mac, and used to rave about Firefox. I'd always stayed away from Opera after trying it when it was a 'paid for' app. A couple of months ago I downloaded it from VT pro, and all my other browsers have been consigned to the trash. It's fast, (especially the downloads - check it out for the DL manager alone), intuitive, and elegant. And it's rock steady. The only scarey thing is that Version Tracker doesn't recognise that it is installed on my Mac. What's all that about? [alert admin]

I use 10.4, and downloaded this application as I need to download and fill in lots of pdf forms, then post them on by snail mail as part of my work. After just 10 minutes use I'd paid the developer. It's easy to use, quick, and foolproof. (It must be, I use it). Can't understand the carping on about the price - I've evaluated at least two more apps that cost $20 more that aren't as intuitive.I had one query and it was answered within 10 minutes..... That's support. [alert admin]

I agree totally with this comment, I run my own one person business with a few suppliers and many clients. I'm 'accountaphobic' and have always shied away from accountancy software. This software is a breeze to use, there is no learning involved, and I'm kept in the picture with how my business is doing each time I log in and enter an invoice, or make a payment. Ken, the author, replies to emails within the hour if…
