Prey 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This game is so slow on my 2GHz G5 that it's unplayable. Slow, as in 30 seconds or more between sentences when a character speaks. Slow as in several seconds for a key command to take effect. Slow as in DOA. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.0b (Mac OS X)
I found the new Safari to be very sluggish on my G5 2GHz DP machine under OS X 10.4.9. In fact, the entire system seemed slower, with more rainbow beach balls when opening programs etc. Also, using Onyx to repair permissions after the install showed a number of Widget permissions needed repair (could explain some Widget problems some have seen?). I used the Uninstaller to revert back to Safari 2.x and things are better now... [alert admin]

Contour Shuttle 2.1.11 (Mac OS X)
Installer says: Nothing to Install
I have the v.2.1 software; when I attempt to install the 2.1.11 update I'm told "You Can't continue. There is nothing to install." I'm using a G5, is this update for Intel Macs only? [alert admin]

Digital Performer 5.0 Crashes with 2.1 driver
I installed this (2.1) version this morning. After restarting the computer and repairing permissions, I started up Digital Performer 5. DP crashed after trying to load the audio drivers (Digi Core Audio 7.1). I tried this several times, shutting down my Mac and restarting between tries. Uninstalling the Contour driver solved the problem. [alert admin]

OnyX 1.6.3 (Mac OS X)
I've used Onyx practically since it came out and not had problems with it. When I went to OS X 10.4 my old version stopped working until the next upgrade -- I'm glad it did, rather than trying to work and failing. I usually use it every day or two (as well as before and after installing new software) to repair permissions, and since I turn off my computer at night, I also use it to do the Cron Maintenance tasks on a regular basis. Each new version has made doing this easier... And the price is definitely right! [alert admin]

WeatherDock 2.2 (Mac OS X)
Weather.com was unavailable to Weather Dock for a couple of days due to a change in the way data was transmitted -- and a new version taking care of the glitch arrives right away. I gave the app 5 stars when v.2 came out; if I could give six stars for support, I would. [alert admin]

Oblique Strategies 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I have the 1979 edition pack -- it used to sit next to my computer screen and was used a lot (bad for resale, I suppose, but I'm keeping the pack anyway). I was so pleased when the different versions of Oblique Strategies started coming out -- I used the Hypercard version for a long time on my Quadra. Saved a lot of wear and tear. Version 1.02 of this program immediately made it to my dock -- I loved the "Think" button and the fact that the program quit when the window was closed. These features made it perfect for me -- I'm a composer and sometimes it's great to have a ittle nudge in a different direction. The way 1.02 worked was non-intrusive -- nice! I miss the "Think" button. I miss the close (quits the program) button. I miss a lot of what's going on behind the big purple display. So, I'm keeping 1.02, but maybe I'll try shoving this version in my Startup Items folder to see if I get daily inspiration. !.02 would get 5 stars from me, this version gets only 3, since I think it's been a bit overthought and has lost some of its usefulness... AbiWord 2.2.4 (Mac OS X)
I tried this for the last two days, but frequent crashes especially when using graphics in a file and having to switch views to make the screen redraw meant I deleted it this morning. Maybe the next version or two will bring improvements? I tried it with an Avery (business card) template in MS Word format that consisted of a table... While the page size and orientation imported, the table did not. Too bad... [alert admin]
