Audiobook Builder 1.0.10 (Mac OS X)

Does What it Says!

Rather than repeat what has already been said, I will just add an amen to the previous reviews. Audiobook Builder works as described. Simple and effective. Use it with M4PConverter and it'll pay for itself. Save $ and the planet by not wasting CDs to burn legally owned media - only to import back to a HD for storage. [alert admin]

Jungle Disk 2.0 beta 4 (Mac OS X)

Leopard's built in Time Machine does the same thing

I don't understand. Mac solutions - Apple's Backup/Mac.com/Time Machine ALL do the same thing free or the cost of a hard drive. Why pay Amazon $37 a month for 250 gigs of storage when hard drives are so cheap now and Apple has free software solutions? Even a purchase of their TimeCapsule Airport with a Gig of Wireless Storage built in - would pay for itself within the first year? Help me understand why this would be better than Mac.com? HELP!!

Can anyone help? I downloaded and installed Concierge 1.4.7 but the help documentation is just al link to the developer's web site which apparently doesn't exist anymore. I using Leopard 10.5 on a MBPro but after installing and restarting Safari, I still can't find Concierge. There's no menu bar icon and no app was installed. How do I launch it? Sorry to ask here but I've searched for several hours. I found reviews but no help. Thanks for any help [alert admin]

iPhoneSync 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

I don't understand the point, unless it's wireless Sync

I'm also confused. We've all wanted wireless syncing for iphone but unless a piece of software has that, what does it do? Is it a reminder to sync? We still have to use a computer to physically connect our iphone, right? So is this a reminder for the phone or the computer? I'm confused. [alert admin]

Tidy Up! 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Better than another Hard Drive!

Tidy Up is undeniably the best software I have found of it's kind. I'm always complaining about software that's made by "techies" for "techies", leaving us "right brained" creative types out in the cold. Hurray for Tidy Up! The developer has not forgotten WHY we love the Mac environment and stayed true to that. No manual (or computer science degree) needed to get up and running BUT - just like the Mac environment - you can get as customized as you want as you get more and more familiar with it's capabilities. Tidy Up! found so many dups (years of drag and drop backups) on 4 different external drives, deleted all but ? (number of my choosing, depending on whether I need multiple edits or just one clip for reference), consolidated, trashed remaining empty folders... etc. I didn't need the extra Hard Drive I thought I was going to have to buy! Thank you Tidy Up! [alert admin]

Hazel 2.1.2 (Mac OS X)

All I need is a mint on my pillow!

Hazel is the best system cleaning program I have found. She takes a few minutes to set up but like most things - an ounce of prevention ... AppZapper and TidyUp are also terrific for their own purpose and I use them both but Hazel runs quietly in the background, finding little things I certainly did not know were in my system and saving me much time and formerly wasted space. She never causes problems with other apps and doesn't eat much (memory). If only she would leave a mint on my pillow! [alert admin]

CandyBar 3.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Why do programmers think bigger is better?

It's getting so hard to find simple little apps anymore. Something works well and then they bloat it. I guess icon collectors will cheer but I guess casual users like me will have to keep looking for a simple little app to change system icons. (At this price and I'll keep copying and pasting!) TV Tracker 3.5 (Mac OS X)

$5 A Month??!!!

Yikes! That's WAAY too much for a widget, especially when there are so many free, electronic alternatives. [alert admin]

Requested feature...

This app is fine (and the price is right) for my kids in college but I needed more comprehensive help (as your post indicates), Try TidyUp. I work with space hogging Multimedia. TidyUp organized enough dups from YEARS of backups - I was able to avoid buying another 500gig HD!

Complicated

I agree. I am a successful writer and am not considered stupid in any circles. Right brained people like myself here in "Hollyweird" are a huge chunk of Apple's market but we generally are not however, interested or willing to spend so much time diddling with setup. The overload of preferences in both DragThing and Butler are no doubt fine for techies and the wonderful folks who write software for the rest of us.…

Duh and Duh'er

Double Duh from me. I'm depressed because Leopard abandoned my beloved Sherlock and I can't find a simple, clean replacement. What were they thinking replacing one clean mini-app with all those stupid widgets cluttering up the Desktop? Why are people expecting me to use DOS-like programs such as "Terminal"? Didn't we leave that behind in 1984? What happened to Apple being user friendly? Come on tech people, if you force us creative types to…

Seen this before?

You overlooked the most important thing! The others apps you mentioned aren't UNIVERSA. I paid for EZ Note X and DEVONnote - and agree they're fine apps - but why haven't they upgraded to an Intel version? They're fairly simple so it shouldn't be too difficult. Sure, they WILL run, but once I experienced the incredible performance improvement with Universal apps - I won't install anything less. So thanks MacItEasy for writing a…

I fail to see the purpose

I used to use Disk Alias and loved it but will it work with Mac intel? I've found that even though non Universal software will run on my intel Mac, it's not worth it when Universal apps are so much faster and smoother.

A bit off the subject but...

AppZapper is a utility that's paid for itself a hundred times over (for me). It's a little app that uninstalls everything, all the hidden files etc. from any application. It's GREAT for apps that dont have uninstallers, like most shareware apps. Good luck!
