NotePad 1.0.2.41 (Mac OS X)

Who flamed?

I guess I miss where anyone flamed the author. The app was justly criticized, April overreacted in reply, and someone addressed this. This is an appropriate place to note complaints (and praise), especially since it is clear the developer reads it. The reviews are perfectly reasonable. I didn't respond earlier because I thought it was obvious that April's response was out of proportion to my comments. That being said, this app is progressing. The interface is pretty good--nice and clean, though some OS X bells and whistles could be added (e.g., a toolbar including the most popular menu options). It no longer crashes on launch. It seems a good replacement for OS 9's NotePad. In order to compete with other similar programs, however, it should add the ability to format text and paste pictures and sounds. Nice progress, though. [alert admin]

Watson 1.7.3 (Mac OS X)

One of my favorite apps...

It works as advertised. Fully worth the money. I can't iimagine using Sherlock over this app. [alert admin]

Bushisms 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Funny, useful, and free

Scary that the president of the most powerful nation in the world speaks about as well as Dan Quayle. Not a smart man. Cool script. I'd like it to work a bit more seamlessly--double clicking a script after writing the e-mail works, but it's a bit clunky. Keep up the good work! [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 6.0 (Mac OS X)

Some improvements...

Looks like it will be significantly superior to its predecessor shortly. However, some stability problems and poor upgrade options make it lose two stars. [alert admin]

NotePad 1.0.2.36 (Mac OS X)

Is the author rating the reviews?

Looks like everyone who said something negative got a negative rating. What's that all about? For a reliable, free program, try Notes 1.3.4: http://mac.iconet.com.br/preview/203757.html [alert admin]

NotePad 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Why...

does a NotePad need an installer? Whyy can't I just drop it in my Applications folder? And why does it quit on startup? And why would I try this again? [alert admin]

mlMac 0.6.1 (Mac OS X)

Fixed the memory leak...

just to replace it with a much bigger one. It won't recover my temp file, and after letting it run for about five minutes I have 10 different mlnet processes running. I had to go back to version 0.6. [alert admin]

Microsoft Office v.X 10.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Reluctantly...

I am finding this update to be very good. The improvement in performance in Word alone is pretty impressive. If I have problems, though, I will be sure to post them here. Honestly, I hate The Evil Giant as much as anyone, but this update has been berry berry good to me. [alert admin]

OmniWeb 4.5 RC 1 (Mac OS X)

Nice, but...

No tabs and it costs $30. While I like how pretty it is and its improvements are impressive (improved speed, CSS support, etc.) it will never be my #1 browser without tabs. Besides, if someone is giving away a better browser, why would I pay money for this one. [alert admin]

Calculator II 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Change now because it's wrong

Even the old TI calculators I had in high school 20 years ago knew 1+2x3 was 7. Order of operations is a simple thing calculators should get right. [alert admin]

Is the author rating the reviews?

Thanks, Vykor. I have seen a few flame wars around here, and they don't bother me. I have not seen the author rate her own reviews. I doubt the "Was this review helpful" question was intended for developers.

Give me more control over GUI or make it better!

2 stars for "quality/stability"? You don't know what you're talking about. OS X has so many advantages over 9 (stability, protected memory, and multithreading being the biggest) that I can sacrifice a little speed. Besides, OS X is pretty "snappy" on my TiBook. Maybe you need a new computer?
