Google Earth 5.0.11733.9347 (Mac OS X)

Possibly the greatest free app in the world.

Other than iTunes, this is my favorite app. If you can't get lost in this you have ADD. [alert admin]

iVolume 3.1.4 (Mac OS X)

When booting, stuck on Opening itunes Library

I think maybe something with 8.1 is making iVolume unhappy. [alert admin]

Microsoft Messenger 7.0.2 (Mac OS X)

10 year old crap

There are so many better services to use. Why does MS even keep putting time into this with such a subpar services offering. It is seriously terrible. [alert admin]

Carbon Copy Cloner 3.1.3 (Mac OS X)

As Good As It Gets

CCC should be in every Mac users Applications folder... and used. Every time I think CCC is as good as it gets, it gets better. Easy to use, flawless in my experience over years and backup after backup. [alert admin]

BBC Radio Widget 3.1 (Mac OS X)

Used for a long time on PPC, now on Intel - TROUBLE!

Used with my PPC Dual G5 PowerMac for a few years with nary a hiccup. I've been trying to cajole my new MacBook Pro into letting the widget to no avail. It will play as long as the dashboard is open - but after I start playing it and then try to go do some work, it pauses. Maybe this is how it is supposed to work, but I don't believe so. I have reinstalled both the widget and Real 11.0. I have restarted. No go! Help? I love this widget and love the BBC World Service. [alert admin]

MSN Messenger for Mac OS X

I do not hate Microsoft or Bill Gates. But I do hate Windows, and MSN Messenger for Mac OS X is gunning for #1 spot on that list too. Absolutlely nothing short of pathetic. [alert admin]

Volume Logic 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Love This Product - Please Hurry A Fix!

Without even having the VL window open, I could tell as soon as iTunes 7 installed and was playing that something didn't sound right. Volume Logic is INCREDIBLE, on every Mac I own no matter what the speaker set up, it really helps customize and craft the sound to one's liking. I miss it terribly in iTunes 7, and will even volunteer for Beta testing if it means getting it even one day sooner! [alert admin]

RadioSHARK 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Using Since 1st Release

This is by far the best release, finally allowing my expensive 23" HD Apple Cinema Display to sleep while recording - that was a thorn in my side. And then sometimes RS didn't quit after recording so it would leave the display on even longer. This seems to be fixed - but I'm back to an original problem with the RS - SKIPPING. 1 out of every 4 shows I record when I go to play them back are skipping like a broken record. I cannot for the life of me determine what makes this happen and it is quite annoying. [alert admin]

Microsoft Messenger 5.1.1 (Mac OS X)

I Actually Stopped Using

I have forced friends to IM me on Yahoo or AIM (iChat). I just have to put in my two cents. This is no better than connecting via telephone to a friend on our Commodore 64's back in 1985 and typing to each other. A little prettier but COME ON! [alert admin]

Chax 1.4b7 (Mac OS X)

Love it! Please Donate to keep it up!

I've been using Chax sice the first availability. It has been as stable as any program I have ever used, and quite frankly adds things to iChat that Apple itself should have added. I'm writing to ask those who find this app as useful as I do, to do as I did: PayPal the owner $5 (or more)! There is a donate button in the Chax preferences and is very quick to do. Keep the innovation alive! [alert admin]

wow... what on earth went wrong?

SuperDuper is alright, but Carbon Copy Cloner does it for free and just as well. The point that should be made here is to backup your stuff BEFORE there is trouble. It is like trying to revive a dead person - just not gonna happen.

Opposite Experience

I found SuperDuper to be a PITA and hard to remove once I didn't like it. CCC has been flawless for me, and essential in backing up my Macs.

Workaround

If this works I wonder if some smart audio Mac guy can figure out how to make VolumeLogic work between iTunes and my USB Soundstick II's? Go !

Caution

Same problem, DP G5 2.0 doesn't start. The last version of TCC didn't boot either... I'm thinking of dumping it from my list of tools.

Terrible, Explain?

It would be nice to have some specifics in your review. I.E. what parts you don't like or don't work? I have had the opposite experience as you have had. I was amongst the very first to get the RS when it shipped and I was so disappointed with the software I almost returned it. The software has gotten better and better to the point that it hasn't missed a recording in over…

spamware?

You don't have to use your iChat handle to get an account. If you read about it or tried it you'd see that rather than just inferring a bunch of untrue statements.

How About A Widget?

I would love a Widget that did this! Nearly as good as the dock but as a widget it would only use CPU when you bring up dashboard! I'd pay $5 for this widget!
