Navicat MySQL Manager 7.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Best of breed but pricey

I'm a long standing CocoaMySQL user but I just spent the afternoon reviewing all the SQL managers I could find on Versiontracker because I saw this on 'sale' today. It's FAR more polished than anything else I found (RazorSQL, SQLGringer, CocoaMySql, etc.) and CocoaMySQL, even though it's free, is far ahead of the others. (It doesn't do as much, but it does what I need well.) But Navicat offers a HUGE feature set just for managing mySQL and it does it really well. I'm glad I'm not paying full price for it, but I am going to buy it. [alert admin]

YuBurner 0.6.2 (Mac OS X)

Great for fast simple data backups!

As mentioned, it's not great for multi-session discs, and if you are looking for anything fancy you really want to be using Toast. But for day-to-day data transfers, YU Burner makes things much quicker and easier than Apple's copy-twice method. YU Burner also lets you quickly burn Windows and ISO9660 discs. [alert admin]

Works very well

I haven't tried a multi-session burn but this program rocks for single discs. [alert admin]

GNUMail.app 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Repeated "Fatal Error" on launch

As instructed by the Fatal Error, I've created the 1 folder and 4 files where they are supposed to be (with correct spelling and capitization) but it just keeps telling me to create them before it will agree to run. Anyone else getting this? Solution? Thanks. [alert admin]

Enigmo 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Yep: "Great, but…

a little short" is definitely the theme of the day. Brian (aka Pangea Software) will be posting user submissions on the web site, but they've got to have at least 10 levels. I've got 4 levels completed so far (the last one should drive people nuts as it appears not to contain enough pieces to be solvable). When complete, it will be the submission from "Frozen Heads Software." [alert admin]

BBC Radio is…

all RealPlayer as well and I've been trying to get them to add a quicktime option. The QuickTime server is FREE -- jeez, what's a media format got to do? [alert admin]

Kensington MouseWorks 2.1b2 (Mac OS X)

I'm pretty sure…

the opens-the-CD-drive-at-startup thing is a conflict between the latest Apple firmware and the Griffin iMate (ADB to USB adapter). Are you hooking up your mouse via an iMate? [alert admin]

Yeah, I know.…

But there's a bug in AppleScript. When Apple fixes it, this can run stand alone. And it's not so bad: after you double click the file (as you would double click the app) it means you have the added task of hitting command-r to run it. [alert admin]
