SOHO Organizer 7.0.2 (Mac OS X)
Well, it looks like it's back in the crapper again!
I had a brief period of things working smoothly, but I should have known it was too good to be true! Upgrading to 10.5.3 induced a few problems with 7.0.2, which seemed to be resolved by doing a re-install. And, not one to be content, I added another syncing program to allow my iCal to sync to Google Calendar. Oh! silly me! I've had to disable syncing from SOHO altogether, while I sort this one out. So if you're keenly interested in de-bugging complex program interactions––this software will potentially keep you entertained for years. Once again! Close! If you get a working system don't change it, and always back up. There's an impedance mismatch between developers, and you may be the one working on solving it. [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 7.0.1 (Mac OS X)
This version is significantly better than anything Chronos has released over the last several years. I can understand all the grousing about failed promises. I suffered through them as well, but this version actually works, and it works really well! I feel scammed by the companies prior representations, but this version works and works well––zero problems over the last month. It's fast and clean. I haven't had any problems syncing across dotMac. And it has been seamless between iCal, Address book and SOHO Notes. It launches promptly, and has the long promised features. It's such a shame they did such a crappy job on earlier versions 5 and 6: endless lost hours. I haven't purchased an upgrade yet because I'm so mad about the previous investment, but this one does work––it's everything the others were promised to be. I haven't had a problem upgrading or going back. So I recommend this version to all, but the companies past behavior has been absolutely atrocious––beyond the pale! They have good people, but they are under resourced. I don't get their business plan. That's a whole other deal! [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 6.5.2 (Mac OS X)
It's at 6.5.3 and still not functional ![]()

I've tried running SOHO Organizer under Leopard on both G5 and G4 machines and it's very buggy at this point. It seemed to be running okay on Tiger but not Leopard. If you are planning to sync across .Mac be prepared to inconsistencies and problems. This software has plenty of potential but it hasn't been realized for several iterations. Sticky Brain was straightforward and great! The new versions and integration suites are full of problems. There are always improvements, but you, the users, will find yourself the beta tester. The support is good when you are able to contact them. I believe the company to be sincere in their efforts, but they're are spread way to thin, and there is not enough development time in SOHO Organizer to be a fully functional retail software. It's a shame to see a useful product augur into the ground. [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 6.5 (Mac OS X)
I've reviewed earlier versions of SOHO Organizer, and this is the best so far. Post-installation, the software has been completely stable and trouble free––no corrupted data. The beta version installation was a bit ––back up your data before commencing an upgrade, etc. but once the application was running everything was good and continues to be. It's definitely the most reliable and trouble free version to date; it works like utility software should––transparently––allowing the user to interact with the data. [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 6.3 (Mac OS X)
Quick follow-up on the 6.3 upgrade: It's working very well, no significant problems with the application. Syncing across dotMac works well. A few bugs here and there, but all in all it's functional and useable. It's speedier than before and most importantly stable and safe (i.e. no data lost). Once you get the hang of this software, it's hard to go back to address book and iCal. The developers have made it over the mountain (I hope). [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 6.3 (Mac OS X)
It seems about as solid as 5.7 but will all the modifications in the 6.X series. The software transition to a new version has been a very rocky ride. Before doing anything! Back up all your data! Having stated this warning, 6.3 has been working relatively well. Unlike all prior 6 versions, it's pretty much functional. Syncing is better and more reliable. Early versions were awful and completely destructive, but this one is working much better and necessary, if you tried other version of 6. Export, backup before proceeding. All the functionality found in the original is there. I have had many, many problems with this software but it seems functional with 6.3. [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 6.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Don't know what's going on here, but if you have been running 6.0.1, I would suggest not upgrading at this point. 6.1.1 dies on launch, or perhaps it is becoming the "integrated unproductivity suite". 6.0.1 is an improvement in 5.7 and prior, but the latest has problems. It's got to be addressed over the next few days. They have been making progress, but it is a work in progress. Looking forward to future iterations at this point––there's a good kernel in the application. Arf! Arf! [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 6.0 (Mac OS X)
SOHO O basically didn't work until version 5.7.X hit, and 6 seems a tad faster and more generally stable. It's definitely in the right direction. I had a few problems with duplication of notes in NOTES, but that was easily corrected. The syncing seems more reliable and less error prone. The new private note configuration is way better. All in all, it seems mo' better, but still a work in progress. Buy or not to buy…it depends. All the great features are still there, but the upgrades have been slow to come historically. I'll update have a week. [alert admin]

SOHO Organizer 5.7.1 (Mac OS X)
Back to the Drawing Boards for this version
Organizer worked well for about 2 weeks or so, just enough to get me suckered in. There's almost zero support, the software is buggy. I don't know if it's changes in the Mac OS in version 10.4.9, or some other software conflict. The current version of this software is very problematic, better than the last version, and it actually worked for a while. Very difficult to trouble shoot it without adequate support. [alert admin]

I pretty much agree with Williams basic comments, but also agree with the assessment that's contained in the latest review in Mac World http://news.yahoo.com/s/macworld/20080704/tc_macworld/reviewsohoorganizer702_0 . Syncing is primary area that's problematic. Stand alone, this is a terrific product. Across the net is dicey––especially in conjunction with other programs––data corruption and conflicts arise. Should Chronos address those issues the software would be awesome. This seems to be a somewhat universal issue…

I carefully followed the same set of instructions and had no such success. Organizer didn't work. Notes did. I would not recommend following the advise listed. I believe Chronos is aware of the problem and working on a fix, but it's not there yet.

Hangs. I had to force quit! The application basically broke every time I launched it.
