DVD Imager 1.6 (Mac OS X)
I used to love this application, but it doesn't work for me anymore since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. :-( [alert admin]

Spark 3.0b9 (Mac OS X)
This product has been in beta since 2006? I don't think that's how a beta cycle is supposed to work. [alert admin]

Wallsaver 2.3.2 (Mac OS X)
Neat idea, but I had some problems. I am running Leopard (10.5.5) on an Intel Core Duo Mac Mini. The first problem I discovered is that not all of my screen savers are available to Wallsaver. I use iPhoto '08, which adds a lot of items to the list of screen savers in System Preferences: each of my events shows up as a possible screen saver, as does "Flagged," which shows all the photos I have flagged in iPhoto, and which I use for my actual screen saver. However, when I go to select a screen saver module for Wallsaver, these options are not present in the list that Wallsaver gives me to choose from. (At this point, I'm sure some readers are ready to suggest the RandomExtra workaround, so I'll save you the trouble: I tried it. I went to the RandomExtra options and chose "Flagged" as my only module. When I activated my screen saver to test it, it worked just as expected: it displayed my flagged photos from iPhoto. However, when I went to Wallsaver and selected RandomExtra as my module for Wallsaver and activated it, I got a black desktop with the following message in the middle: "Something is wrong! I am sad that I cannot pick a module for you. -- RandomExtra") So I settled on another module, and then I discovered the second, more serious problem: when Wallsaver is running a screen saver module as my desktop background, I cannot start my actual screen saver, either by Hot Corner or by idle time. (The Test button in the Screen Saver preference pane still works, but I can't activate the screen save "for real" unless I first deactivate Wallsaver.) Since I rely on the screen saver to secure the computer when not in use, this problem means I cannot use Wallsaver. [alert admin]

AddMovie 1.5.3 (Mac OS X)
I contactenated to .mov files. The first one is 6.7MB with a duration of 34 seconds. The second is 25.9MB with a duration of 1:55. The result was a .MooV file 87.9MB in size. How do I get a .mov file with a reasonable size? [alert admin]

Comic Reader Pro 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I have only just started using this app. I like it so far, but I think I will wait until I have a little more experience with it before I give it a rating. However, I have a few comments to make: 1) The interface is, in some ways, a little weird. For example, PAGE_UP and PAGE_DOWN should be inverses of each other. (That is, one should undo the effect of the other.) In fact, PAGE_UP goes back a screen but PAGE_DOWN goes forward a page. 2) A nice feature would be for the window to display the name of the last file opened. For example, I am currently reading The New Avengers series with filenames The New Avengers.001.cbr, The New Avengers.002.cbr, etc. When I finish an issue, I haven't necessarily kept mental track of which issue in the series I have just finished. If the window displayed this information, I could select the next issue to continue reading. 2a) A *really* nice feature would be to recognize sequences like that and provide a button to open the next issue in the series. 3) "Comic Reader Pro" is a really strange name for a freeware app. [alert admin]

It won't launch for me. When I try to launch it, it appears in the Dock, bounces once, and disappears. I am running OS X 10.4.11 on an Intel Core Duo Mac Mini. [alert admin]

not all puzzles have unique solution
I just downloaded this and created one puzzle on the "diabolical" level. The board created has no 1's, no 5's, and no 8's. Hence, the puzzle does not have a unique solution. I have always considered it a rule of sudoku that the puzzle has a unique solution, so this is disappointing, even for a level labeled "diabolical." [alert admin]

problem creating dual-layer DVDs
I'm trying to create a dual-layer video DVD. (The contents of the VIDEO_TS folder are too large to fit on a single-layer DVD.) As soon as it starts to create the disk image, it pops up the error message, "There was a problem creating the image," and aborts. Why is this happening? How can I work around it? [alert admin]

“Alms for the poor, alms for the poor,” called Nahum, the beggar. “Here, Reb Nahum, is one kopek.” Lazar Wolfe gave him the coin. “One kopek? Last week you gave me two kopeks.” The butcher shrugged. “I had a bad week.” “So, if you had a bad week, why should I suffer?”

I should have explored the application more carefully before posting. I didn't even notice the "Extras" menu. (The application is a strange combination of a dialog-based app and a menu-based app. The commands in the Extras menu should probably be available in a pane on the dialog.) Anyway, there is a "Launch Screen Saver" command in the menu. So to launch the screen saver, you launch Wallsaver, and then select this command…

Followup: I tried Screeni, which provides similar functionality. It had no problem using "Flagged" as my desktop background, but did have the same problem that I could not activate the screen saver while the screen saver module was being used as my desktop background. Then I tried DeskSaver. Same problem. This suggests one of two obvious explanations: 1) Apple broke something with a recent update to the OS. 2) There's a problem that is unique to my system.

4) Another feature idea: It would be nice if there were a keystroke to zoom the image so that its width matches the monitor's width. (The Z key generally makes the heights match. I'd like to make the widths match.) How about 'w' for 'width'?

good interface, poor game play
I completed ten more games. The results: +15, +2, +15, -15, +14, +2, +15, +4, -13, +15. I think there is now sufficient evidence to support a verdict: the computer opponent sucks.

I require installation/explanation notes in English.
I followed those instructions, but they didn't work for me. I copied the .plugin file into ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items and logged out and back in. I also tried restarting the machine. Still, the Burn command does not appear in my contextual menu when I right-click on a .dmg file. I also tried using the /Library/Contextual Menu Items folder (instead of ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items) with the same non-result. I notice the .plugin file…

Heck, if you just want a full-screen slide show, JPEGDeux does a wonderful job, and it's free. iPhoto ain't bad, either.
