Path Finder 3.1 (Mac OS X)
Sherman1, oscarruitt_dotmac's assement of the lack of a "true" spatial finder replacement with Path Finder is indeed correct. I refer to you to Ars Technia's articles on the OS X Finder's lack of a spatial finder so that you understand what he means. http://www.arstechnica.com/reviews/01q2/macos-x-final/macos-x-9.html And no, this has not changed in 10.3 even though the article is about 10.0's finder. That having been said, even though Path Finder isn't spatially orentied, it doesn't mean it isn't useful and a great app for many things. But a spatial finder, it is not. [alert admin]

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus 1.5.7 (Mac OS X)
Yah know, it takes a lot of gall for this developer to expect people to pay for his software program when the obvious end of the program is to rip off other people's work. I hope not one single person pays for this program and anyone who uses it cracks it. I certainly will not be buying nor using it. FYI I'm not condoning software piracy, i believe people should be compensated for their work. But this developer's charge for this software is an outrage. I hope the Motion Picture Association sues him for everything he's worth. [alert admin]

GIMP 1.2.5 (Mac OS X)
OpenOSX is in the right, and providing a nice service/product
OpenOSX is providing a nice easy to install build of GIMP for Joe Average Mac user that is terrified at the thought of something like Fink let alone probably has no knowledge of such a thing as Fink. The GNU license which GIMP is under allows and encourages OpenOSX and distributors like them to do just what they are doing, distrubuting FREE software. I think there is a big big big misunderstanding of what is meant by "free" when referring to GNU software like GIMP. Goto http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html for a clarification on the philosophy and meaning behind "free" in the context of GNU software. There is nothing illegal or morally wrong about what OpenOSX is doing contrary to what shmit posted. If you think 25 dollars is to much for a service/product OpenOSX is providing, then simply do not buy their product. [alert admin]
