HyperNext Studio 3.83 (Mac OS X)

crashes

I tried several sample stacks (programs) and they all crashed HyperNext- it froze and refused to function. Force Quit was the only way out. Even the Home stack caused a crash and it does nothing. Today I am searching the 'net for some sign of developer activity in the last year (no luck so far). It appears to be another dead HyperCard clone project, and possibly the last one. So much work went into it; so much potential sits there; it's enough to break your heart. Using iMac/Intel/OS 10.4.11   [alert admin]

meaning of "alarm"?

Some programs will pop up a window on the screen and call it an alarm. That's nice if you are there and watching. Otherwise it is useless. Does this program actually make a sound that you can hear from the next room? Does it wake/turn on the computer if necessary in response to an urgent calendar item? Thanks for your detailed comments! Where's the OFF switch?

Flash Player has been fairly reliable for me over the years, and a pleasure to own. Recently there have been so many web advertisements that jump around on my screen that I have desperately looked for a way to stop them. There isn't an off switch. Adobe has told me that they don't have a work around, and the tone of their message implies that they have no intention of providing a way to stop web animations. My solution was to remove Flash Player from my computer. Anyone have a better suggestion? [alert admin]

Macromedia Flash Player 8.0.22 (Mac OS X)

stop it, please!

Flash animations can make life online more interesting, but... Am I the only one who finds web pages cluttered with annoying Flash advertisements and frivolous, distracting 'entertainments'? These make my processor work hard and get hot and cause the fan on my laptop to make noise. They almost never offer useful information. Why can't I stop them? Why isn't there a button to disable Flash at these times? Even my TV has a MUTE button to help me survive the commercial noise! Perhaps the publisher of Flash is more interested in making advertisers happy than having pity on the poor users. Please comment if you know how to temporarily disable Flash content. [alert admin]
