Cheetah3D 4.6.3 (Mac OS X)
I have tried just about every 3D program out there, but Cheetah3D is simply the easiest to work with. It requires less practice than all the rest and is the most mac interface-like. I've done things in Cheetah in a few hours that either took me days or not at all in other programs. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.2 (Mac OS X)
3.2 wiped out all my cookies. It's one thing if I choose to kill the cookies, but I don't want Safari making that decision for me. [alert admin]

VMware Fusion 2.0b1 (Mac OS X)
Apart from some problems with Unity, 2.0b1 has been incredible. Simple to install Windows, quick to start up, and very stable. The worst part of the whole experience is Windows XP. There is also an occasional delay in connecting to wifi, but this has happened on the Mac as well, so I can't fault VMware Fusion. It's fast too. [alert admin]

LaunchBar 4.3.7 (Mac OS X)
I am so used to LaunchBar that I try to type application names on other computers that don't have it installed, and can't figure out why it's not working. This is a great application that just keeps getting faster. I don't need most of the fancy functions, but it's nice to know that they are there. As some have pointed out, Spotlight functions in a similar manner. However, it is not as quick, not as accurate, and does not allow for custom items or pruning of items. I can't use my Mac without LaunchBar. [alert admin]

FontAgent Pro 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I started with MasterJuggler in Classic (wasn't classic back then) and moved on to Linotype FontExplorer for OS X after deciding that I couldn't stand Suitcase - I used it for the longest time, but it was so inconvenient. I was relieved when I discovered FontAgent Pro. It acts like MasterJuggler -- invisible until you need to change a setting or add fonts to the library. It is also very stable and better at auto-activation than the other applications. I couldn't work without this program - there's no way I could go back to FontExplorer. [alert admin]

Transmission 1.21 (Mac OS X)
The latest version makes this a great application. It has always been stable as far as I can remember, but the new features, like moving items one the list, two speed settings, and selecting only the files in a torrent that you want put it far above other applications of its kind. If I could add one feature, it would be to find a way to stabilize the speeds for over-leeched torrents. Surely, something can be done to prevent 45k/s one second and 5k/s about ten seconds later. MPEG Streamclip 1.9.1 (Mac OS X)
I only really use this application when I'm facing a multiplexed movie. Quicktime Player can't play the sound for these files, even though it is supposed to be able to do that with the MPEG2 plugin. Streamclip has no problem with this. [alert admin]

This is a great application once you get all the facts. It is hands down the best of its kind. I use it in conjunction with Toast to create DVDs. It has problems converting poorly encoded files, but otherwise does the trick without fail. [alert admin]

This program seems awfully expensive to do most of what Acrobat does. What I would really like to see is the repairing of fonts - when I distill to acrobat 4, edit in 7, and resave, it screws up font embedding for older readers (win6, mac4), adding weird spacing, jumbling characters, etc. If this program could fix that (which it doesn't), it would be worth the price. How to convert AVI to Video_ts files?
I use DVD mpeg2enc conversion. On the Options panel, make sure Author as DVD (Video_TS) is selected. That should create a folder containing the video_ts data - you can burn the contents of the folder to a DVD (I think this can vary by version though - I could have sworn it used to create a disk image, but the current version creates a DVD folder).
