Find Any File 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
If you can’t find a file, but you know, it’s on the drive, this comes in handy. I have used FileBuddy very well for this (but it has other uses as well) and I haven’t found any program as fast as FileBuddy, until now with Find Any File. And it is fast. It lets you open the file right away or with a key-combo. I’m sure many users would welcome this program in the cases where spotlight (which I also use) will not rightfully show a certain file. Tri-CATALOG 6.0.6 (Mac OS X)
I can not confirm crashes at all. I have used Version-5 for 4 years on Tiger, and Leopard 10.5.1 to 10.5.5 and can't recall a crash. And now I tested Version 6.0.6 and imported well, also without difficulty. With all the data it collects, it may be slow in comparison to a program that only notes the name of files. I have not needed picture cataloging previously, but now I probably will, and if Server support from Clients works well, this seems a good possibility. Localized versions seem very expensive though. The set user-rights that the program surely needs could not be withdrawn even after de-installation of Log-Me-In. It has set itself up as an admin user on the public library; and this option can not be withdrawn. That does not feel good, and I am having trouble with user-rights... [alert admin]

I tried 3 searches and 3 failed after about 45 Seconds, saying it got an error looking into the Spotlight indexs. Other Find Programms like FileBuddy finds all files within about 7 Seconds on a 80GB rather full disk. Now thats fast. I do not agree with another comment, Spotlight or Command+F is enough! The author states correctly Spotlight will intentionally omit some of the HD. But Spotlight can be extended by the use of "NotLight" which uses the Spotlight index and is better configured. Though the interface or search criteria is not easy to grasp. But the NotLight programm is really good. And if I want to use Spotlight to search ONLY for a NAME, I type e.g. "Cargolifter into the Spotlight field. So just add one " in front of the name and Spotlight ONLY searches for names. But still FileBuddy is really fast, can be tuned, can be limited to a drive and much much more. [alert admin]

I have it in use since about a month. Works fine and a bit faster and more elegant in opening PDFs, and probably Word and Excel too. This impression comes from a more direct approach in conversion and display of text and execution of the commands on the Palm itself. Seems fully rewritten. I miss the feature that rtf-files are possible in sync! It was deadly for Psion some years ago to drop this feature, and really should come back in a later 9.1 version, so as to ensure inter operability. In this way TextEdit, Apple Works, early Word-Versions all could be transferred to the Palm. Please give us this back! The Mac-Version is really only an admin tool to manage what and to where the files will be transferred. Works well with Missing Sync as well. I did not need a documentation as Docs To Go was self explanatory. [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.1 (Mac OS X)
I have many Logitech Products, eg. several MX 500, the diNovo Media Desktop Set Bluetooth, most of its buttons work on a Mac although Logitech says its not for Mac, and they refuse to make at least the mouse more recognizable, although the System Profiler easily recognizes it. However the Logitech Control Center in System Preferences does NOT. I’m using a Cube 800 MHz and 10.4.7 and have had no problems with LCC 2.1. I was able to configure several of the MX 500 buttons e.g. with the new internet search or speed scroll. (By the way, the only two Logitech Webcams that work with OSX and iChat are Quickcam 4000, and the rounded QuickCamPro for Notebooks, the subsequent models of these two do not). [alert admin]

...as I use an utility to open the Apple-Menu, and there at the top I have listed the "Secured Folder" and can even navigate into it. That's not security! Of this or all the other programs. OS9 had a Drop-Program to encrypt files as part of the System, and that was effective, and OSX-File-Vault goes too far encrypting everything. A stable drop-encryption program is what is best, or as the former user suggests: <Open Disk Utility. Create a password-protected disk image of any desired size. You are done, for free.> If that is a stable solution, it seems best. [alert admin]

FinderCleaner 1.5.2 (Mac OS X)
Upon the deleting atempt of the Finder Files and even the indication that that is done, the programm on a Mac OS.10.4.2 (German) pulls up an error message: The variable "thePassword" is not defined. And the USB stick is not unmounted. Still needs some correction. But the idea of the programm is great for cameras, SD-Cards and usb-sticks. Peter [alert admin]

I used to be an avid user of Power Merge myself. And now these days I use Chronosync - A really WELL DONE program. From your feature request I can see your experience in the subject. Your suggestion for sync now of selected objects would be wonderful. I also miss the show next changed file a lot. May I ask, how important you consider some other / older features of PowerMerge or related subjects? • On renamed…
