Retrospect 8.1.622 (Mac OS X)
I really is as bad as they say. I've been trying to back up a MacBook Pro connected via Ethernet to my desktop machine. The process hangs at some point during the backup and you are greeted with the spinning pizza of death. Do you want this aggravation? Are you a masochist? Do you have sins for which you wish to atone? There are better options out there. Send these people a message. [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 4.0 Build 3844 (Mac OS X)
I've had good luck with Build 3844. I can now sync my Palm Treo via USB! [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 4.0 Build 3810 (Mac OS X)
Build 3810 is still a loser when it comes to syncing my Palm Treo 700p. (Sorry, an iPhone locked to AT&T that doesn't even have cut/copy and paste is just a glitzy toy. Still hope to get rid of the Treo someday.) Parallels Build 3522 was the last one that played nicely with my Palm. I downgraded again, an obnoxiously time-consuming process, and all is again well. I'm not going to spend my entire life changing some programmer's diapers. That's enough debugging for me. [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 4.0 Build 3540 (Mac OS X)
Doesn't Like My Palm Treo 700p
I was using 4.0.3522 successfully but 4.0.3540 doesn't like my Palm. I get "USB device not recognized" errors. Doesn't help to plug/unplug USB cable at either end, etc. I downgraded back to 4.0.3522 and everything was OK again. Then I uninstalled 3522 and reinstalled 3540. (By the way, I rebooted the Mac between each step.) 3540 failed again. Guess I'll have to stick with 3522 for the time being. Anybody have a different experience? [alert admin]

Spamfire 2.1 (Mac OS X)
I heartily recommend Spamfire 2.x to anyone who enjoys paying software developers for the right to troubleshoot their buggy products. This thing is not ready for prime time. Latest problem (let's not even talk about the mail server proxy issues): even after applying the Tiger conflict "workarounds" suggested by Matterform, this app slows my machine to a crawl. Take my advice and don't play with Spamfire. Incidentally, the other commentators are right: Version 1.x was definitely a decent program. Too bad. [alert admin]

"It" really is as bad, and so was my proofreading.
