R-Name 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Correct Website of Developer

Correct Website of Developer and her/his Mac application downloads.

BTW I love this cool and useful little app, but now that I read about loss of spotlight comments I'll sadly have to consider using something else. [alert admin]

iTunesVolume 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Practical & Unobtrusive

This is a beautiful little program -- unobtrusive when I don't need ist and beautiful when I use it. Plus it comes with some cool features like auto-play all songs in the iTS. Also, the author is responsive and loves iTS gift certificates :) [alert admin]

iTunesVolume 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

MUST! HAVE!

This is an absolutely fantastic little app, I wouldn't want to use my iTunes w/o it any more. Although you have to do a little work to access it: - click-and-hold or right-click on the button resp. slider for menus - cmd-click-and-drag the window itself - hold the ctrl-key pressed if you want to move the album art and info windows ... it's fairly intuitive if you've done it a few times and IMO every Mac user should get acquainted with using the cmd, alt and ctrl keys, therefore I give it five stars in "Ease of Use" although I know that many people may disagree here. I especially appreciate the ability to play _all_songs_ in the shopping cart or anywhere in the iTunes Store. [alert admin]

BuddyPop 2.5.4 (Mac OS X)

Anybody else having download problems?

I'm having problems with downloading BP 2.5.4 for the past two days, I'm always getting timeout messages.

Anybody have an alternative download URL for me?

Other than that, BuddyPop is a fantastic, unobtrusive and certainly stable utility and has become indispensable for me.

TIA, Tom [alert admin]

Deeper 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)

Thanks, very useful for me

This fine little tool made it easy for me to change the desktop image which is displayed when the Login Window is shown -- I have a MBP, and now the desktop image has a text overlay which says "please get in touch with me ... reward ... [phone # and email address]". Just in case it gets lost or stolen etc. etc. Sure it's no gaurantee or, BTW, Lapcop, but alone this makes Deeper a useful little tool for me. Yes I know I could dig down manually into the file system and fumble with access privilegues etc. and exchange file etc. etc., but this makes it easy for me _The_Mac_Way. Thank you. iTunes Volume 9.0 (Mac OS X)

Thank you

Thanks again, iTunes Volume is getting even better, although I thought it was just great!

I love the new notification choices. [alert admin]

iTunes Volume 8.7.7 (Mac OS X)

While Versiontracker lists 8.7.7 but links to 8.7.6 ...

you can use the developer page to download iTunes Volume 8.7.7. [alert admin]

Can't understand how so many people seem to miss the beauty

I can't understand how so many people seem to miss the beauty and ease of use of this little app. Please try it, use ctrl-klick or right mouse button, check the prefs etc., it's mostly self-explaining. No I'm not married to the developer ;-) [alert admin]

Drops 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Time-limited PLUS Nagware, Crippleware, Annoyware!

I admit: This is a nicely done variant of the free SameGame, and it has nice funny sounds . . .

. . . BUT: This game is:

- NAGWARE, i.e. while I'm in the middle of one of the 18 times I'm allowed to play w/o having registered, it nags me. Several times!

- CRIPPLEWARE, it doesn't allow me to command-Z in the unregistered version.

- ANNOYWARE, because it includes a countdown timer at each launch as long as it is unregistered.

- PLUS, I can only play it 18 times in the unregistered version.

This is just ridiculous. Any one of these methods would have been enough, but this way you seem to me like a paranoid trying to get rich quick. Won't happen, I tell you.

I for one will stick with the free -- and friendly -- SameGame or Same-X. (No, I'm not affiliated with either one of these.)

And no, I'm not a cheapskate, I've purchased quite a lot of good games.

iTunes Volume 8.4.7 (Mac OS X)

Because folks don't seem to really try it out ...

and therefore give it a bad rating, I want to say again that I love this useful little thing ... and also give it a good rating again because it's just unfair to tear at this w/o having tried it out a little more carefully. No, I'm not married with the programmer :D [alert admin]

Solving Safari 3.0.3 Error

Thank you, Thomas!

And: "I guess this was too much trouble for the developer to provide for paid users."

I'm a longtime Saft user (oh well, this longtime is short compared to my personal computer history ;-) which is short compared to my age :-D) and I've always been worried by the way Saft is tied so rigidly to the Safari version which makes us extremely dependent on Hao Li to supply us with a new version…

Butler is Donationware!

Haven't tried SwitchBlade yet ...

... but regarding Butler: While I agree that Butler ist terrific and it does all I want and turns my Mac even more into a dream machine under my fingertips, I must disagree with your statement that Butler is free.

Butler is Donationware, and I seriously believe that paying the suggested donation fee will motivate the developer to improve Butler even more and/or develop more of his great utilities.

Cheers, Tom

Potentially useful, but not yet

Try right-clicking (of ctrl-clicking) on the frame of the slider, then you'll get all you want ;-)

Do yourself a favour and don't generalize

I for one like this nice, unobtrusive way to check which tune is playing, to see the cover art and to set the sound level.

Deeply suspicious - think before you leap...

Yes, I agree. In Germany, for example, and I guess in quite a few other countries use of this program with copy protected DVDs will be illegal. I mean -- what sense does it make to actually clone a protected DVD including the protection and then assuming this may be legal? Tell me: Is stealing the safe with the jewels inside less illegal than breaking the safe on location and then stealing "only" the jewels? <shakehead> And no, this…
