Downloaded the demo. Installed it. It's still the same buggy, slow app, just with new buggy features! It's unstable on my dual 2G G5, took forever to run a couple of filters on a tiny JPEG file, PDFs and DXF support in OS X are still weird, and I find that the application just isn't that intuitive to use. I haven't upgraded my Canvas licence since v. 7 mainly because Canvas STILL doesn't support Wacom tablets for pressure sensitivity in OS X - the options are still grayed out as in 8 and 9. WTH? Several features on the Winblows version aren't available Mac platform - Carmine couldn't figure it out at Deneba, ACD is just as clueless. Hey, ACD? Hello? Sticking with PS, Freehand, ID, and QXP. See you in XI? [alert admin]

Deneba Canvas 8.0.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
been out for a year and a half, and they're still working on bug fixes, like getting long documents to print and run without crashing. When run in OS X, there's STILL no support for pressure. Read Deneba's own forum to find out just what a piece of hooey C8 really is. Ahead of its time, my furry arse! I thought QuarkXpress was a bug-ridden mess until I tried out this unfinished piece of crap. If you need to make money, don't waste your time. Thanks for reading this flame! [alert admin]

onViz 1.01 (Mac OS 9)
great developer tool, and I've been able to quickly make all sorts of one-off cross platform custom applications and solutions for many mac problems and jobs - it's also fun to use! I tried the beta and really like this version. I won't miss mTropolis quite so much anymore - it'll be great when their OS X version gets out! [alert admin]

- WP for the Mac was discontinued years ago - the QXP filter supplied by Quark works for Windblows files just fine - and for $300 or 300 pounds?! And it isn't even available for QXP 5.0? OK, who's the lackey that is going to buy this outdated SW? Not me! A year since the last comment - OK, I'll go away now, [alert admin]

G-Force 2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
plug in! There's a little goof here at Versiontracker, tho'. The "Installer" file (is for OS X - the "Standalone" file is for OS 9 (yes, on both of Versiontracker's Mac pages). Check the Developer Page. Life will be better after that, I hope! [alert admin]

TwilightBrush 2.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
beta, this app stinks. The brushes are primitive and it's more about hue shifting than "illustration" or "painting." In OS X, the lasso worked even when TB wasn't the frontmost app - and I couldn't get it to stop working until I used Force Quit! Don't waste your time. [alert admin]

IE 5.1! It's faster, still free, and works! Painter's Help works now, it works with all of my plug-ins, and does the job 95% of the time. Sure, it could handle cookies differently, etc., etc., but it works great. [alert admin]

Deneba Canvas 8.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
great app, but I'm still frosted at Deneba. I'm STILL awaiting pressure support. There's no mention of the lack of pressure support anywhere in their manuals - to the contrary, the PDF file and HTML help both indicate how to get pressure support (for Wacom tablets) - Deneba admitted to me in their forums that they don't support it yet. I'm pleased for the bug fixes - but I'm still waiting for something I paid for and really want. Don't flame me - I'm lacking something I really need and resentful that Deneba "forgot" to mention their unfinished work. Bummer. [alert admin]

I stand by my comments. I have a new G5 with 3G of RAM and a clean system when I work on graphics files. I qualified my comments that it was slow when working on a small JPEG file (I compared it to PS, Elements, and a couple of other bitmap editors. No freakin' Wacom support in OS X - ever (Carmine at Deneba admitted that he couldn't figure out how to implement it); look…
