I had previously been a big fan of Intelligentfind, and had written a very positive review. However, the author no longer seems to support this utility, and it is not stable with system 5.2.1. [alert admin]

Works great; needs one more option ![]()

This does what it is supposed to; it is actually amazing that this hasn't been available before. However, it displays the landscape in the opposite direction in which I would like it in toggle mode; my guess is the author could fix that easily. When he does, I will donate as I will then be using it. [alert admin]

Crypt3 20060601 (Mac OS X)
Long time user. This utility does what it is supposed to. The unregistered version will not encrypt a folder, just files, so that is not a legitimate complaint. But... The licensing scheme is per 'machine.' If you purchase a new computer, or get your logic board replaced, you have to buy another license. The author says it is the only way to eliminate pirating, but I feel that is bogus. Sure it is a relatively inexpensive utility, but it is not that superior to the many encrypting shareware programs at comparable cost. There may be other shareware that use this license format, (although I do not know of any,) but it is far from an acceptable standard. Computer users have come to expect that they can transfer their software to their new computer. Can you imagine if all software was licensed to a single machine? The cost of buying a new computer, and all new software, would be many thousands more. [alert admin]

Spotlaser 1.3 (Mac OS X)
For me, best Spotlight replacement ![]()

Spotlight has both interface and result difficulties, making in quite unwieldy. I have previously given a positive review to Notlight, another Spotlight replacement. But I find Spotlaser both easier to use, a more intuitive interface and producing better results than either Spotlight or Notlight. Price is donationware. [alert admin]

MondoMouse 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
My experience: Not compatible with MS Word ![]()

I originally wrote a review that my experience with MondoMouse was not compatible with MS Word, and therefore could not recommend this product. To be fair, the program author says this bug is not replicable by him. I must say that now, even if what the author says is true, I cannot recommend this utility. The utility Zooom does move and resize windows, along with other features, is clearly compatible with MS Word, but costs almost half of MondoMouse. My ratings are therefore based on the existance of an equivalent product being half the price. [alert admin]

Spirited Away 0.5 (Mac OS X)
This is a little utility that really should be part of the OS. It removes window clutter for those of us with multiple apps open. My only wish is that the time-to-hide could differentially set by apps, rather than a global hide time. Downside: in my attempt to contact the developer about this wish, (I know, it is bad form to make wishes on freeware,) the site could not be accessed. And while it appears to work fine on 10.4.8, it is unclear how long it will be supported. [alert admin]

AppZapper 1.7.0 (Mac OS X)
I am just examining AppZapper now. It is true that if one knows what app one wants to delete, a quick search in Spotlight, (or better, the freeware Spotlaser,) will yield all the related files one needs to trash. But AppZapper will also list all of your apps and how long since you used them; (press the Genie's lamp icon.) I was amazed as to how many apps I have simply carried over from computer to computer. So, AppZapper may have use as a means to get rid of those Apps that have not been opened in two years. [alert admin]

T3 with external card: mEncryptor doesn't recognize the presence of my external card, despite my having fluid access to it via other apps. Touching the arrow leads to fatal crash. This app doesn't work for me. [alert admin]

NotLight 0.5 (Mac OS X)
I found NotLight to work brilliantly. It is instantaneous and really addresses all of the flaws of Spotlight. But... C'mon. Zero instructions. And while eventually simplistic, the default is not common sense. So if you do a search, you get nothing, because you have to select the "Word-Based" checkbox to tell it you are looking for a word (in a file title, for example.) Similarly, the default is case sensitive. Looking for a capitalized name in an email file?; you must check case insensitive or make your entry capitalized. A three paragraph ReadMe document would resolve all of this and probably resolve the reviews from people who can't make it work. Complaint: Previous checkboxes do not remain checked, nor is there a preference selection to make this the default. 95% of my searches will be word-based and case-insensitive; I would rather not have to spend the half second to reselect these boxes each time I use NotLIght. My guess is that the author will put this in soon, as this is a .5 release. This really is a good product. [alert admin]

This reviewer really missed the point. The screensaver is obviously designed for Simpsons fans. It is a direct representation of a specific commercial parody on an episode, (fully understood by other reviewers' "fishbulb reference.) One cannot simply add more characters or change the commercial. Would the reviewer like the options of adding aliens to a "Moses parting the Red Sea" screensaver? (Hmmm, wait a minute, that might make a great screensaver.)
