SketchFighter 4000 Alpha 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)
Mark me down as another person who tried the game and within minutes knew it was worth registering. The game isn't particularly innovative although the game mechanics are solid so the game plays really well. What sets this game apart however is the graphical style. It's unique and wonderful. The look and feel of this game will put a smile on your face and that's really the point of a game. It is well worth the registration fee. In fact, I'll go one further. At $19, this game is a steal. Heck, I'd gladly pay twice that if it came in a box I could display. Ambrosia has done it again. [alert admin]

Scrabble 1.0 (Mac OS X)
It was just last Christmas that I bought the Board Game Trio from the MacGameStore. The version of Scrabble that comes with is decent but I really hate that it insists on running full screen. I downloaded this version of Scrabble today purely out of curiosity and after five minutes I was hooked. It's true that it doesn't support networking (I hope this feature gets added) although it isn't a dealbreaker for me as I tend to play solo games against the computer. Oddly, I'm not upset about having to spend another $19.95 because this is a much more playable game. Try it, you'll see. [alert admin]

WriteRoom 1.0b3 (Mac OS X)
Getting better with every release!
Jesse Grosjean, the developer of WriteRoom is fantastic. I made a feature suggestion a couple of days ago and it's in this release. Okay, maybe others requested the same feature but what is important is that it was implemented. That's amazing. Time to make a donation. [alert admin]

Frodo 4.3.7 (Mac OS X)
Frodo is a poor emulator that is short on feature and really not worth bothering with. If you want the most accurate and full featured 64 (and VIC-20, 128, Plus/4 and PET) emulator out there, get VICE (http://www.viceteam.org/) which is completely free. If you want a relatively accurate emulator that is really well integrated with OS X, easy to use and you're willing to pay for it, get Power64 (http://www.infinite-loop.at/Power64/index.html). Bejeweled 2 Deluxe 1.0b (Mac OS X)
There's something funny going on...
I think they are releasing 'updates' to this game so that it shows up in the daily listings rather than to correct actual problems. This supposeldy updated version of the game has exactly the same version number, is exactly the same size and has exactly the same file creation and modification dates as the last two versions they released. I wish I had never spent money supporting this deceitful company. This abuse of Versiontracker cannot be tolerated. [alert admin]

EMUlaunch 1.1 (Mac OS X)
My complaint about this program is that it requires the user to organize their ROMs the way Emulauncher wants rather allowing the user to configure Emulauncher to work with your existing layout. For example, I have all my Atari 2600 ROMs in a folder called "Atari 2600". Emulauncher couldn't deal with that. I had to move all my ROMs into a folder called "ROMS" within a folder called Atari 2600 so it could see them. That alone turned me off. Also, the program is painfully slow. It's much quicker to launch an emulator and select a ROM than loading Emulauncher. I was also diasppointed by a total lack of useful documentation. This might be a useful program eventually but for now, forget it. [alert admin]

iStumbler 96 (Mac OS X)
I can't put my finger on what it is I don't like about iStumbler. Every time a new version comes out I try it and ultimately I end up going back to the less powerful but more appealing MacStumbler. [alert admin]

This program sets new standards in the unbelievably cool and unbelievably pointless categories. The author should be commended and then beaten. I recommend That's Not a Picture wholeheartedly. To whom however, I have no idea. [alert admin]

Power64 4.9 (Mac OS X)
I like Power64 but there is one feature missing that is keeping me from registering. It lacks any communication functions. VICE (the free Commodore emulator, see: http://www.viceteam.org/) has a 'virtual modem' which is patched through to TCP/IP on your computer allowing you to connect to Internet-accessible bulletin boards (see: http://www.orrville.net/telbbs/) and things like the resurrected Quantum Link service (see: http://www.quantum-link.org/). Power64 won't be a fully functional emulator until this fearture is added and then I'll happily register. [alert admin]

How many times do they need to fix this non-existant problem and if the fix doesn't require a change to the program, why keep relisting it?

An excellent suggestion and as it happens, my friend sent email to the author a few months ago requesting communications functionality and the author said he didn't have enough time to add in such features. Oh well. Maybe he'll find time someday.
