Mail Toolbox 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I've been using Eudora as my mail app for about a zillion years, and Mail Toolbox was a great add-on--except for that incredibly irritating prompt that popped up intermittently and asked me to pay for it, which I had already done half a zillion years ago without ever getting the registration code from the developer, who many people in a similar fix now believe may be dead or exiled to Argentina. Anyway, I took the Giant Leap Of Faith and moved all my 25 mailboxes' worth of Eudora mail files into Apple Mail and now I am so happy I could cry, especially since Apple Mail essentially has Mail Toolbox capabilities built in. So long, Alex, whomever/whatever/wherever you might be, and RIP. [alert admin]

PandoraJam 1.3 build 256 (Mac OS X)
No Longer Records or Moves Songs to iTunes
This is a terrific piece of software for which I am a paid registrant. Alas, sometime in the past week PandoraJam lost the ability to record tunes to my User/Library/Music/PandoraJam folder, and it no longer moves songs into iTunes. Not sure if this happened after I installed Snow Leopard last week or upon installing the new iTunes 9.0 yesterday. Any thoughts? [alert admin]

Clicking on the green button at upper left in the iTunes finder window no longer minimizes to become the Mini-Player. The orange button still sends iTunes to the Dock. [alert admin]

Although I paid for lifetime upgrades for this app and received a serial number in short order, whenever I try to register I get prompts that say I should try later. And later. And later. And later. Now waiting for an e-mail response from developer. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.1 (Mac OS X)
This morning I downloaded and installed Safari 3.1 and found it to be considerably faster than 3.0 or its competitors. On big Web pages with many JPEG photos Safari appears to be going slow, but it is actually loading the photos in the background--after which the entire page literally explodes onto the screen. Demo Is Essentially Not Usable
I'd very much like to run the demo for this product to evaluate its usefulness. However, the demo is limited to drives of 100MB or less, and the smallest of my eight drives is 80GB. (Is there even any such thing as a 100MB drive anymore? Maybe a ZIP drive?) [alert admin]

Adobe Illustrator CS3 13.0.2 (Mac OS X)
You'd think Adobe would tell you in the update notes that it is necessary to install update 13.0.1 BEFORE trying to install 13.0.2. When I did that, everything worked fine. C'mon, Adobe, when we're paying $600 for software we deserve updates that don't cause us to waste our valuabl time on upgrade procedures that don't work. Surely you could write some code that gives us a prompt that says: "Update 13.0.1 must be installed before 13.0.2." [alert admin]

Despite several tries with different downloads, I am unable to get the AdobePatcher to install the update on my Power PC running 10.4.10. The direct updater through Illustrator CS2 also doesn't work. [alert admin]

The developer hasn't responded to my latest e-mail requests for help, but it's a moot point now. I upgraded to iTunes 9.01 and all is well with PandoraJam; it's downloading songs and putting them into iTunes just like it's supposed to. (Knock on wood.)

Although the developer has sent several e-mails to me, we still have no resolution for my problem. I've even uninstalled and re-installed the latest versions of Pandora Jam AND iTunes, so something funny is going on. I really hope this gets fixed because, as I've said, when it works this is a terrific piece of software.

Indeed, I did get e-mails from the developer and they supplied a variety of registration numbers. The bug was as described, and one of the numbers finally worked. I appreciate their working on the problem. The app is now working as advertised.

As a follow-up, the developer did respond with an e-mail but did not explain why I was unable to connect to the server. Next day they sent a new serial number, but the application wouldn't recognize it at all so I'm still dead in the water.
