Whamb 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I wanted to check this app out, and see how it compares to ToolPlayer; unfortunately, their site no longer exists, or it is down. Now that I look at the last release date, my guess this is a dead app if the last version was released back in 2003... oh well, Check out toolplayer - it may be what you're looking for. [alert admin]

Great to use as default player! ![]()

This is a great music player to use for the default player, instead of iTunes. What is nice about this is that it quickly opens a tune and plays it, instead of importing it and adding it to library like iTunes does. I also agree with the previous comment about allowing it to be either skinnable, or at least be able to use the default OSX appearance. Otherwise, this is an exceptionally nice app. [alert admin]

Sticky Windows 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Get rid of the effects please!!! ![]()

I have owned Sticky Windows for over a year now, and I like the software, and version 2 is a little better. But I hate the fact that I cannot choose to disable the special effects. I would prefer that the windows simply pop open or closed with a click of a tab rather than zoom in or out. The minimize/expand effect is only cool the first few times you use Sticky Windows, and after that it's annoying and a waste of resources (no matter how minute they may be). Also while I definitely recommend Sticky Windows, I find it odd that there is no support forum, email, or anything else -- so buyer beware!! I would suggest the developer post a simple forum, or at a minimum a support email on the product site. Until then I have to rate support as poor :( So, my two suggestions: 1. allow disabling special effects. 2. Support Then I would give Sticky Windows high marks across the boards. [alert admin]

Not even suitable for freeware! ![]()

This is easily one of the most pathetic FTP applications I have seen in a long time. I use FTP/SFTP, SSH etc. all the time during an average day, so I have a definite interest with these sort of applications. This application doesn't bring anything new to the table that most of the freeware apps don't already have. Examples: Filezilla and wsftp for Windows, and on Mac there are too many great FTP clients to even list. If you really want to pay for an FTP application, I would recommend going with one of the full-featured, PROVEN clients already out there; at least this way you know there will be bug fixes, and upgrades in the future. This app will probably not be around too long unless it improves significantly, or it is a hobby project. The other comments about the interface for Macintosh are correct. This is not something that any self-respecting Mac user would touch with a 10-foot pole. :( [alert admin]

Open source php frameworks are better
I have spent the last 6 years dealing exclusively with web frameworks, and content management solutions. As such I have veered away from the commercial solutions except where they are required.
In most cases a framework will suffice if you have someone skilled with a particular framework, so they can produce the content management layer the way you want it. However, when frameworks have existing CMS's available they become hands down, the most versatile solution for complex site development.
This CMS has nothing that most open source CMS's already have, and costs one thousand dollars more.
If you want a good solution, consider Joomla, Xaraya, Drupal, Plone, Zend framework, Cake, or a myriad others out there; but don't get locked into a proprietary shackle & ball solution like this.
...just my 2 cents. [alert admin]

NewsLife 1.0b (Mac OS X)
Vienna is a great RSS reader, and it's free. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice app; but Vienna is equally as good! [alert admin]

LaunchBar 4.2 beta 1 (Mac OS X)
I enjoy playing around with these types of applications, and although LaunchBar is getting better it still doesn't compare to its more mature, and full featured brother Quicksilver. If Quicksilver didn't exist, this would be my choice. [alert admin]

RSSOwl 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I have been trying out several Newsfeed apps including; NetNewsWire, Vienna, and others. Many people cite NetNewsWire as being their favorite app, but I prefer RSSOwl for a few reasons over other apps: - it's free - it's fast - it is very customizable The only downside is that you need to spend a few minutes doing the tutorial to become familiar with it, because it appears complex at first sight. Once you have educated yourself (about 5-10 minutes), this program reveals itself as easily the best newsreader out there (free, or not). [alert admin]

This user is seriously wrong! Quicksilver is absolutely stable. I have used it consistently including alpha versions -- and NEVER had any problems of any sort. Quicksilver also works better than Launchbar; sorry, but it's true.
