SecuritySpy 1.0b29 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Reply to Timothy Smith from developer

In my view the pricing is reasonable for a product such as this. It has advanced features you won't find anywhere else. Plus, using a Mac with OS X will ensure extremely good reliability which is vital for such an appliaction. Like most things in life you get what you pay for. [alert admin]

FoldersSynchronizer 3.3b8 (Mac OS X)

Great!

The best product of it's kind I have seen. Interface is a bit confusing but that is minor when considering it's powerful features. [alert admin]

BTV X 5.4.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Reply to MelvinG8…

from developer: The smoothness of video capture depends on what sound and video compression settings you are using. If you capture the DV video in BTV with the video compression set to 'DV' and the sound compression set to 'None' it should capture as smoothly as iMovie does. If you are using other compression settings then frames may be dropped due to the additional processing required. A Carbonized app IS a native OS X app. [alert admin]

BTV Pro X 5.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Reply to omshanti…

from developer: The ToUcam drivers are in BETA testing phase, they are not final release drivers so problems are expected. BTV works flawlessly with devices such as FireWire webcams and DV video that have high quality stable final version driver software. [alert admin]

Hi, Sorry to hear about your problems with unfinished movie files. This occurs if an error is encountered that prevents SecuritySpy from finishing off the movie files. The error will be recorded in a log file - please email this to us at support@bensoftware.com and we will take a look (you will find the error log within your SecuritySpy folder within your Documents folder). We also have a movie fixer application that may allow you to recover…

Is anyone home???

I'm sorry for the slow response time over the summer, we had a backlog of emails for various reasons. We've now caught up, and aim to respond to all emails within 48 hours.

Motion Detection - choppy video

The most likely cause of this problem is that there is some kind of bandwidth problem on your network. Do you have a large number of cameras, or a lot of other traffic on the same network?

If this isn't the issue, then it might be that your Mac is struggling to keep up with the workload placed on it. How many cameras do you have connected, and what Mac are you using? If this is…

Doesn't Support D-Link DCS-6620

We have now implemented support for the D-Link DCS-6620 in a beta version of SecuritySpy. If you email me at support@bensoftware.com I will send you this new version to test. I'm sorry it took so long to implement, this is due to the fact that this camera sends JPEG images that are not compatible with QuickTime, so we had to implement an alternative method to decompress images from this camera. Work with Intel / Universal binaries

A Universal Binary version of SecuritySpy is in the works, but it is taking longer than anticipated, for personal and technical reasons! For the moment, SecuritySpy runs well under Rosetta.

Success (II)

Opening the firewall to connections on port 8000 is essential for SecuritySpy's web server to work at its default port setting. This then allows access to the system from your local network by typing the following into a web browser: <IP address>:8000 In this case, it appears that port forwarding was set up on the router to forward messages on port 80 to port 8000 on the computer running SecuritySpy. (A perfectly sensible setup.) This explains why the…
