Renamer4Mac 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Very sorry, but price is too high

I've used Renamer4Mac for several years, and even made a donation prior to it becoming Shareware. I have enjoyed using this program, so I am sorry to say this, but $26 is too much to ask given the reality of the market for this type of utility. Even worse, many agree that Name Mangler (Freeware) is a better program. [alert admin]

Pixelmator 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Top "must have" is missing

Overall, this is a great app. Without getting overly granular, I have been generally happy with it since I bought it a week ago (it came in a bundle offered at MacWorld). I am eying PSE6, but would love to have an alternative for a number of reasons. This would do the trick except for one thing. <p> I just can't function without something roughly equivalent to the "History" palette in PS. I just can't. Only having one "Undo" is simply not an option. I urge the developers to add this feature soon. If they do, I will recommend this to my friends as an alternative to PSE6. [alert admin]

MacDrive 7.0.10 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Copied 30 GB, No Problems

I used this software in trial version to hook my Mac HFS+ FireWire800 drive to my Dell work laptop so I could transfer my music library. I had to use a FW800 to FW400 cable with a 6 to 4 pin adapter as Dell hasn't really embraced FireWire yet :) I wanted to say in my review that everything worked perfectly. Detractors for this software are 1) Price, and 2) Pop-up Nags. I haven't tried to uninstall it yet, so maybe that's hard too. If it was $15 I would buy a copy, but I think I'll figure something else out at the price they're asking. Software like this on the Mac is usually Shareware. [alert admin]

TiVoDecode Manager 2.1 (Mac OS X)

May I add...

...that you actually have to look hard on the developer's site to find a place to donate. If you're a loyal Mac user and use this program, I implore you to support the them! [alert admin]

TiVoDecode Manager 2.1 (Mac OS X)

The Freeware that sets you Free!

Some freeware programs deserve our thanks more than others. If you are a Mac user and have TiVo, this is such a program. Use this alone and watch anything from your TiVo on your iPod. Combine it with Visual Hub and you can take any video and do with it as you please. Thank you to the developers! [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 5060.0 (Mac OS X)

3.0 Good 2 Go

Seeing all the negative feedback, I was wary of upgrading from 2.5 to 3.0. I eventually did, and migrated my XP disk image to 3.0. Now I've done two "point" upgrades, 5060 being the latest. So far I haven't had a single problem with the 3.0 upgrade or either incremental upgrade. I do keep my XP image completely up to date using "Windows Update", and I also keep OSX completely up to date as well. I have always run the "Parallels Tools Updater" right away as well. Perhaps this has helped me. Just wanted to offer a balanced picture as I do find this to be good software. [alert admin]

Web Confidential 3.7.6 (Mac OS X)

OK then

I have had WebCon since OS9 and the Palm V. Good to read the post below, I hope Mr. Blom feels better soon and can post an update soon. I would say that for those of us who have basically not moved to Steel (or another program) due to loyalty and good past experience, I hope the UB is a point release and not a paid upgrade. The version after that, on the other had, should definitely be 4.0 and I'd be willing to pay for it. [alert admin]

Myth II: Soulblighter 1.6.0 (Mac OS X)

My thanks to the Myth community

It is a testament to the Greatness of this game that such a large and dedicated community has kept it alive many years (in gaming time, many decades) after the original developers were detroyed (peace be upon them). For those who even think of giving this less than five stars, please keep in mind that if not for the developers who built this port, all you would have is a "Classic" app that wouldn't run on any modern computers. Again, thank you. [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 2.5 Build 3170.0 (Mac OS X)

Outstanding Mac Software

I am a long-time Mac user who has always had to find a way to have a Mac at home a PC at work. For perspective, I started with Virtual PC 2 and used it through version 7. When I got my Intel MacBook Pro, I started using Parallels. This most recent version is one of the most outstanding pieces of Mac software I've ever used. Coherance is AMAZING! I would recommend it to anyone who has a need to use Windows software but owns a Mac. My thanks go out to the developers - keep up the exceptional work! [alert admin]

Like Toast?

I'm not sure about the features of Toast 8, but this program will allow you to 1) download recorded shows from your TiVo and 2) decode them into your choice of mpeg formats. It does not have an integrated "burning-to-CD/DVD" feature. My impression is that it is more aimed at putting these shows on your iPod or iTV.

Easy Upgrade - Great Hardware

I have a version 2 router, was able to install this firmware via web browser (Safari) in less than a minute. When I bought it, Linksys didn't support Macs and I don't know if that's changed. Hasn't mattered for me, I've had this unit for three years and it's never given me any problems at all. To install via browser, just type in the router's IP address, go to the "help" menu,…
