iLLiance 1.5.1 (Mac OS X)

works fine, minimal cpu usage

all windows work, although I 99% of the time run it in the smallest window size 1.5 would potentially use about 6 to 10% of the CPU, but 1.5.1 seems to be averaging 1 to 4 % it has plenty of easy to change options relating to the info it displays in iChat, including the ability to strip out the music symbol if you have friends who use AIM (which won't display the proper symbol, or possibly get no status message because of this) [alert admin]

iLliance 1.0 (Mac OS X)

works well

does what it is supposed to. easier then most of the applescripts to change any info before the song & artist names. I then hide it, and let it do it's thing. runs reliably, and with the Verbose Output option, you can see what the program is currently doing (not a major feature, but is still interesting) (yes I am a beta tester of this, no reason I shouldn't be able to rate it though that I know of) [alert admin]

PureFTPd Manager 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Good Product

Been using it since April (about 5 months now). Reliable, easy to work with. Allows FTP only users to be setup in about 1 minute. The only thing I've had problems with is the bandwidth limiting (or speed limit) when I set it, it doesn't seem to take. I'm still playing with this feature, probably just something I've done wrong. Other then that issue, just a few minor GUI related things would rate it 5 stars =) (in the main window you can expand an account to show specific connections and monitor progress, but if you hit the refresh button, it collapses this back down, minor, but it would be nice if it remembered it's state) [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 3204 (Mac OS X)

unofficial patch currently

http://icculus.org/news/news.php?id=2036 "Please note that this patch hasn't gone through MacSoft QA (or really much of any QA, to be honest), but in the interest of time, I'm putting this out there now. If that makes you nervous, you should wait for an official announcement from MacSoft." It provides compatibility with the current PC/windows version [alert admin]

ATI Radeon Display 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Probably for Retail Cards

Generally when ATI releases these, they are for the Retail versions of the cards, not for the Cards that Apple ships in the machines like several people here have mentioned, that now are not recognized. Apple includes the needed ATI updates with Mac OS X updates for their "OEM" cards. [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Driver quality

It would be nice if their mouse drivers had more options, as others have mentioned, being able to set per-application is extremely useful once people get into multi-button mice. As far as stability, function, and how the software drivers work, it's all pretty good. I'm using a cordless logitech mouse (has a mouse ball) at home, and an optical mouse at work. The drivers for these I've been using for a while (I'm left handed, so can't just use Mac OS X's defaults) I just recently acquired the logitech "Internet Navigator" keyboard (has a cord) the options in the software for the keyboard are pretty good, plenty of choices you can set each of the "non-standard" buttons on the keyboard to do different things on your computer... now I just need to find a set of mac oriented stickers to label the keys on the keyboard. (Like command, option, control etc...) If I find any problems with the keyboard and/or drivers, I'll be sure to post here. [alert admin]

UnmountNetworkVols 1.0 (Mac OS X)

unmounting

there is actually a way to unmount servers in Panther if you open a finder window, then click on "Network" it should show an icon for each "shared" machine on the network, they will likely all have grey icons, if you double-click on an icon it will prompt you to login (username & pass), then you pick the drive or sharepoint to connect to. once you are connected, it still has a grey icon, unless you click off, then back on that server icon , it should then blank-out for a second, then change to a darker icon (with a blue globe in it), at this point, you can control-click or right-click on this dark icon, and it should have the "eject" option. ATI Radeon 3.1.1 (Mac OS X)

rereleased

according to IMG ATI has re-released the download with a fixed installer... "For those who might have downloaded the update yesterday morning, it is highly recommended that you re-download the update. The original installer contained a bug that would delete all of the user's third-party preference panes. This bug has since been resolved. Before installing the software, please read the release notes that are included in the driver download." [alert admin]

Still No Quickcam Support

there is no universal driver, because there isn't universal chipsets/hardware on web cameras. Digital Camera's have a handful of different main chipsets, and those work with Mac OS X almost perfectly, but there are still Digital Camera's that do not work.

help

you could always leave off the extra features, and just bring the movie itself over, that should result in no additional compression (although it still has to generate the new .vob files, which still takes time)

Rebutzal

I would say the relatively minor Interface points would only subtract about 1 star it is easy to install, setup, and run, the quality is good, and is still in beta. leaving the on missing star for some wasted space. I would find more issues with not being able to set a hotkey to then use mic input (so you press a button to talk kind of thing), or a minimum setting on the pickup so quieter sounds…

All good but...

It was never claimed that Starcraft would be simultaneous relase for mac. It was just over a year after the PC release. (12-13 months sounds right) At that time, Blizzard would finish the pc version, and would then hand the code over to the porting company. sometime after the starcraft release is when Blizzard aquired (or something like that) the porting company, so they could release simultaneous (or close to it) I believe Diablo II was…

sucks reeaall bad

You may have corrupted preferences or something similar... I use this version (3.4) as do my friends, family, and even a couple of co-workers, and they do not have the crashing problem you mention. Also try to see if it is related to one specific function you are trying to do.

Crap...

check your ram, filesystem, and other hardware before blaming the OS In our shop, if a Mac OS X mac is crashing, it's because something is wrong and needs to be fixed. Once fixed, it doesn't crash.
