Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X 6.5.1 (Mac OS X)

NTFS-3G is FREE

Wow, $40. Or you could use the open-source NTFS-3G. It easily installs in your Preferences pane and copying to a NTFS volume is seamless. http://www.ntfs-3g.org/ [alert admin]

Camino 1.6.7 (Mac OS X)

I see it still has Playskool buttons

I work on Mac and with people on Macs all day every day and I don't know one that uses Camino. Matter of fact, I had completely forgotten about it since I stopped using it in 2004. It's Opera to me. GUI randomness tacked on a browser no faster than the other browsers thanking the heaven's it's lived another day. [alert admin]

Goldfish 2.3 (Mac OS X)

No support will be it's downfall.

I've used Freeway Pro and Rapidweaver and Goldfish Pro is very promising. There's not much I haven't been able to do with it. I've been able to produce a professional looking web site with custom HTML and it's the closest to a WYSIWYG program I've used yet. Think of iWeb the way it's supposed to be. Goldfish will not succeed because there is absolutely no support from the developer who has apparently written this software as a hobby. The help is minimal and the user forums are a ghost town of previous users that have given up on getting any help or updates. There are hardly any new threads and most are from 2006. Most of the newer threads have never been answered. This developer needs to sell this program to a company that will support and update it. I do not recommend buying it until this developer decides he wants to take this project seriously. [alert admin]

bbDEMUX 1.40rc1 (Mac OS X)

Useless

Dragged and dropped a VOB file and one second later received the message "Demux Complete". No files were generated. Used File/Open with the same results. Apparently the developer doesn't have any testers. [alert admin]

Transmit 3.6.6 (Mac OS X)

Uploads keep stalling

I can't stand it anymore. Every time I try to upload files Transmit stalls in the middle of it and I have to log off and back on. I have to do this several times before the files actually get uploaded. [alert admin]

Flow 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Looks pretty, but that's about it.

I was really impressed with the interface. Very pretty. However, I couldn't accomplish anything else with this program except logging into my FTP site. File transfers fail and I wasn't able to upload a single file to my site. I dragged my files into the window, Flow populated the window with my file names and then most of the files just disappeared from the window. The files that remained in the window just sat there and did nothing. As usual, don't pay for software that doesn't work. Use the trial first. I'm glad I did. [alert admin]

Transmission 1.20 (Mac OS X)

Ok, I'll admit this version works great

After months of complaining, I stopped using Transmission at .9 because of file corruption and other bugs. This version is very nice. The UI is clean and sharp and it's fast. This is how the program should be. Now just don't screw it up again! :) [alert admin]

AOL Desktop for Mac 1.0 (Mac OS X)

The only thing AOL is reaffirming commitment to....

... is offering Mac users half a$$ed software. "Try AOL now! With less than 1/8th the features of the previous version which had half the features of the Windows version! I don't think AOL lets their employees out of the building into the real world. [alert admin]

Sound Studio 3.5.6 (Mac OS X)

That's All That Was Fixed?

I've been using Sound Studio a while now and I know there were a lot more things that needed to be fixed other than the Help menu. After all this time only those 3 bugs were fixed? I'm going to have to re-think my support for future versions of this product. [alert admin]

Keeping up with Windows?

While this is a great program, I'm concerned about the lack of activity with Mac development compared to the Windows version. Windows is now at 1.24 and the Sourceforge forums are practically dead. This program needs to be advertised on the same sites as the Windows version, such as MameWorld.net. [alert admin]

Handbreak is complicated and confusing, Ripit just works!

Handbreak and RipIt aren't even in the same league and both do 2 different things.

Not listening to customers

It's a simple case of AOL not listening to its users. If they had, there wouldn't be so little features and all these people on this site complaining. AOL makes the software and you're going to use it how they say you will. Chatrooms? We say you don't need chatrooms anymore. Keywords? Nope. I agree with the other comment that they should have just fixed the old version.

Even Less Features than the Old!

For years people complained of all the features missing from the OS X version compared to the Windows version. Now this new software has even less than the old OS X version! So you get AOL mail and AIM. That's worth installing this whole application for? No chat rooms, no newsgroups, no specialty areas. This is a case where free doesn't even cut it anymore. AOL just doesn't get it and hasn't for 15 years.…

We are lucky to have software this good - Whatever

You can't base how wonderful this software is just because the latest version doesn't seem to have any problems. You have to look at their history of development. The developers release a new version about once a month. They fix some things, and add features. The problem is they don't extensively test what they've implemented, and don't use beta testers, which several times in the past has led to data corruption. This process of…

Updates few and far between

This is really good software, errrr.... was good software if you're now using Leopard. Because of bugs, the software is useless on Leopard. The problem is that updates to the software are way too few and far between. The last time Max was updated was in January, 2007. Leopard has been out for 4 months and still no sign of an update to Max. Just in-progress unstable versions.

Dear Developers

What the hell are you talking about? "Michael_Miller_800 (FreeWare Inc.) Try the following: 1. User downloads the one version of *censored*tail to manage them all 2. User selects "Leopard mode" or "Tiger mode" 3. *censored*tail runs appropriately Brilliant isn't it?"
