Apple Security Update 2006-003 (Mac OS X)

WARNING: MacBook Pro

I installed this update on my MacBook Pro at the same time as QuickTime 7.1. Following installation, I was unable to boot the MacBook Pro. I needed to do an entire Archive and Install of the MacBook Pro to get it to boot again! clint@bossstaffing.com [alert admin]

Stalker CommuniGate Pro 4.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Unethical Business Practices -- BEWARE

Absolutely unethical to expire rightly owned serial numbers, especially without warning. This meathod to generate sales has greatly hurt the number of owners of CGP. Upgrades cost more than original purchases. Switched to an open source assortment of programs that act more reliably -- much thanks to stalker. [alert admin]

Gimp.app 2.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Simply Won't Run

Mac OS X 10.3.7 on 17" PowerBook with X11 installed (disk permissions verified as fine). If X11 is not running, it launches and the Gimp app icon shows in Dock for a split second. Then they both quit. If X11 is running, I see the application menu for Gimp but the X11 app apparently never launches... Has anyone gotten this to work? Are there any extra steps needed? Intuit Quicken 2005 14.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Launches Classic

Updater Launches Classic... and then complains Mac OS X 10.2.6 or higher is necessary to run the installer... Mac OS X 10.3.6 sees this as a Classic Application. [alert admin]

Apple Remote Desktop Admin 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Great Tool, A Few Missing Features/Bugs

Still an inability to update old client software on new iMac G5's. Lack of ability to retrieve files without a Unix command is unecessarily limiting. Support of older VNC clients results in lack of best performance (controlling) with Windows-based PCs. Otherwise, great admin tool. [alert admin]

Virex X 7.5 (Mac OS X)

McAfee Webstore labelled 7.5 but gives 7.2

Beware, the McAfee Webstore has the product listed as Virex 7.5 but after purchasing only provides link to Virex 7.2!!! Beware... Like the product from the release candidate, hate being deceived by poor labeling! [alert admin]

Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 7.0.1 (Mac OS X)

DW 2004 + Mac OS X 10.3.3

Ever since upgrading to 10.3.3 it appears as though DW 2004 will not run... neither will Extension Manager... Deleting everything, including every occurance of hidden files... and reinstaling doesn't help. It appears this is the case also for FireWorks... Anyone else experience this? [alert admin]

McAfee Webstore labelled 7.5 but gives 7.2

This issue is still unresolved. Forget about calling Technical Support or Sales... They insist on following up via email... Don't I feel well cared for after purchasing 40 licenses...

Virex 7.5 Announcment

Well, please remember that Apple has just released Mac OS X... With realtime scanning of this product, I don't blame the Virex beta team for taking a step back and allowing testing on 10.3.5! Why wait until getting feedback from the real world when a subset of the population can save us all a lot of headaches!

One more thing...

You use MAC address filtering for better security. It makes sense to add the printer MAC addresses. To not add a MAC address, attached to whatever device, and it still be able to access the network would constitute a security breach. What is the problem?
