Schreiben 5.1 (Mac OS X)

Not worth it: try "Bean"

Admittedly, I have searched Leopard vs. Tiger 10.4, and find nothing new in Leopard (as for my uses) that justifies the cost in $ or hardrive for Leopard. I'll check "Snow" Leopard someday. Previously, with Tiger I used Schreiben for a while. Speaking of ease and simplicity for writing legal documents and for a lawyer, for writing simple letters, for all the important, frequent, and basic uses, I am more than satisfied with an alternative called "Bean" ( named after coffee bean and those of us who work late at night and rely on a cup of java). Bean is simple pleasure to use and gives no problems. If Schreiben is really that better, I would think the author would include the few adaptations that would enable it for use on Tiger. Before passing judgment on any simple processor, you owe it to yourself to download and try Bean. [alert admin]

Demeter 1.5b2 (Mac OS X)

Beta Version: works OK, new features.

I have downloaded to my Desktop Demeter 1.52b and did so without any problems, whatsoever. I repeat, it downloads smoothly with no problem. Because I value Demeter 1.0 and use if for my Default Browser, I intend to keep the two Demeter versions downloaded; but separate. The new Beta version has many new features that will take time to explore. Ken has done plenty of effort and work on the new version----it will be a better Demeter when it is subjected to the trails and errors of the market place. You should try it, recognizing that it is Beta. One problem that I have quickly noticed: in Preferences the setting for FONTS---the adnjustment for setting font sizes does not work. This same problem was on Shiira many moons ago when I trashed it away. The Font Size setting is kaput. Thanks for the Beta version. It works on the same well-designed base as Demeter 1.0; and eventually this Beta version will be a worthy replacement. [alert admin]

Demeter 1.0.8 (Mac OS X)

Demeter: the unheard of browser that is World Cup Winner

You have to download and try this browser to appreciate that is seems to do everything right. Logically something based on Apple's own browser, Safari, ought to work best on Macs. Demeter has also incorporated much from Shiira and shed some of Shiira's problems. It glides through eBay's java hazards with aplomb. It has toolbar that is easy to use, easy to add bookmarks, and easy to read. It has an attractive, yet simple and easy to read esthetic. It downloads pictures, a la Shiira, into a separate daily file, if you so choose in preferences. It saves passwords as Safari. I could go on: you will be amazed that such a good browser has been developed with so little notoriety, as yet. [alert admin]

iCab X 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Wunderbar, Wunderbar

iCab 4.0 will not disappoint you. It handles the net as if it owns it. Try eBay, for instance, with all of its Java problems. iCab 4.0 marches through it as if it owns eBay. The toolbar with its Bookmark set up gives one of the most complete, yet simplest to use, set up of any browser. It's a charm because it works so well, and so easily. Don't forget that iCab refers to Password Saving as "Forms". Use View/Fill in forms to enter a password. In its Preferences Alexander Clauss and his Darmstadt experts have provided the sophisticated and expert computer user with all the detail sophistication that they delight adapting. This browser presents itself as a serious competitor to Opera, Safari, Firefox and yes, Demeter. I've had iCab on my Mac hardrive for many years; but never before has this browser reached the lofty state of perfection it now has. There may be none better. More toolbar colourations and icons are coming. SPEED? This browser has never had a speed problem. It's as good as my 2002 V-8 6-speed Camaro. [alert admin]

Opera 9.23 (Mac OS X)

For Real Satisfaction Try Opera 8.54

Opera 8.54 remains my steady default. It does everything right and is dependable always. The Oper 9 series has always had problems, downloading, and then. For whatever reason, Opera has not done better than its 8.54. That's understandable because 8.54 presents the Mac user with an almost perfect browser. Try 8.54 and forget the silly "updates". Linotype FontExplorer X 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Download BUG FIXED in ONE(1) Day-ohne eine Tag

Thank you. I have downloaded quite successfully, quickly, and without problem today's download. Today is Wednesday at 6 A.M. CST, Chicago. Yesterday's download did not work and actually caused computer problems. I wrote Linotype about it, an email. The Bug has quickly been fixed, and this EXCELLENT FONT SITE now works and better than ever. Thank you, Congratulations. Viel Gluck. [alert admin]

Red Snapper 1.4 (Mac OS X)

A most useful little tool to get JPG and other images stored by way of Safari. Easy to use with a simple click on the snapper in the Safari toolbar. My congratulations on this latest update: you have really got it right. It works with easy and downloads with easy. Best of Luck.....Viel Gluck. [alert admin]

Opera 9.5 and weak wifi networks

Your comments are interesting and pay deserved respects to Opera 9.5.1 and 2. You cited a number of other browsers that I have on my harddrive, except for Omni. BUT, here's one you should try before making final judgment: Demeter. Go to Hurrikenux.com/demeter and download Version 1.0.9, the last stable version. I use this as default BECAUSE I used eBay a lot and Demeter, because of its Safari base, works easily on eBay and copes its…

Demeter: the unheard of browser that is World Cup Winner

Your Presumption is NOT correct. I am an attorney in Chicago who prefers Macs and have tried, out of curiousity, almost all of the Mac browsers. I have paid for iCab (excellent), occasionally use Oper 8.54, have Camino and Safari on my desktop. I'll stand behind by layman's representations on Demeter. It's just that good and gives no problems.

I fall asleep waiting for Flock to lauch or loading web sites!

My own experience with the new iCab rates it amongst the fastest, and in sharp contrast to the pejoratives given it by this viewer. The new iCab 4.0 is fast, period. Demeter, based on Shiira and Safari, has all the speed of the fastest and a neat and east to use array.

For Real Satisfaction Try Opera 8.54

I have checked to find 8.54. IT IS AVAILABLE. Go to Google/Opera/site index (at the bottom of the Opera site). Jog the index and you will find the prior browser numbers. Go to 8, and under 8 you will find 8.54. This was released back on 28. March, 2006.

For Real Satisfaction Try Opera 8.54

Sorry to reply so tardyily. I found 8.54 by going to Google/Opera. If you go fishing on what comes up you will find a list of many former numbers, including 8.54. Is there a way I can send you a copy? If so, advise and I will do so.

Can't use Opera

Baloney-Baloney. Opera has so many features, is so well designed and arranged, that many people go elsewhere because they prefer the quick, easy "fix". With Opera's features, one has to learn a bit; but it is worthit. Do you know any other system, browser, or whatever that gives you the ease of going BACK by punching the letter Z, instead of going to the menu bar mit your mouse????

$$$

I use these same browsers; and in simple truth, OPERA has one most useful feature than none of the others have: namely, the letter "Z" may be used to backspace, and the letter "X" may be used to go forward. No other browers have this unique combo, and and backspacing are used every time one browsers. Congratulations OPERA. Try Opera 8.54.

Use Camino!

This reviewer is absolutely, totally, and unconditionally Correct. Firefox and its continuous "upgrades" has become a nuisance because of the alleged upgrades losing extensions and themes. Firefox originators must learn that when you are one of the real BIG BOYS like Micrososft, IBM, Toyota etc. that your size requires that you not make mistakes, and that you act like your items, good or bad, are the best and satisfactory. Firefox has got to get…

Better Than All The Rest

It is not helpful because it lacks specifics! Warum ist diese browser besser? Than Oper, than Shiira, than Camaro? Shiira und Camino/Camilcon allow the user to tailor the toolbars to their choosing. Does Omni? Does Omni have the different design options for its toolbar? On a good internet connection via cable all these browsers are fast, even Explorer.
