python repeatedly producing 'gmon.out' file

Thank you for compiling a new version of SciSoft for the Max OSX. With the latest version I am noticing that anytime I run a python program (even a simple "Hello World" program) a 3+MB file called 'gmon.out' appears in my current working directory. A quick web search revealed that this file is used for testing during the compiling stage. Is there an easy way to disable this function/feature? [alert admin]
