Logitech Control Center 2.4.0 (Mac OS X)

No problems

I'm not using the latest version (2.4), but I haven't had any of the problems people have mentioned here. I have a cordless optical trackman and a marble mouse, and both have always worked fine with the software. I did just download the latest version (3.0), so we'll see how that goes... [alert admin]

Battlegrounds: RPG Edition (BRPG) 1.3e (Mac OS X)

Nice idea, but piece of garbage

Wow, this program is terrible. Launching was sluggish, UI is VERY non-Mac like (and clunky), it took up 60-80% of one CPU while doing nothing, and it crashed 2 out of the 3 times I tried loading an encounter. The one encounter I did get to see looked decent enough, and if all of the bugs were fixed and the UI improved, this could be a good program. Right now though, it sucks. And it wasn't just my computer (dual 2.7 G5 running 10.5.5) - my friend tried it as well (with a different Mac), and he said his also crashed a lot. [alert admin]

Dev-C++ 4.9.9.2 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

bad link

The link given by versiontracker and the Dev-C++ site is wrong. Here's the correct link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=10639&package_id=12148&release_id=307174 Then scroll down and click on the "devcpp-4.9.9.2_setup.exe" link. [alert admin]

Toribash 3.251 (Mac OS X)

nice idea, but not so great execution

It's kind of a cool idea, but there's a very steep learning curve. Figuring out how to set the joints so the fighter moves the way you want it to is quite difficult - in fact, some of the joints don't really seem correctly set up - as far as I could tell, they all had bi-directional movement, but there are many joints in the body (like the spine, shoulders, hips) that can move in more than just two directions. Maybe I was missing something, but I couldn't figure how to get any joint to move in ways other than the 2 given. I think a tutorial would go a long way to make this game easier to play. I'd definitely say it's not worth buying, certainly not for $20. Maybe if a tutorial was added, and some other things were added to spice it up a bit (like environments or at least backgrounds, music, maybe some skins for the bodies), it might be something to pay for eventually. WebWizard 0.998 (Mac OS X)

decent, but often doesn't work

The app. is pretty decent, when it works. Setting up decks isn't too hard, but the entire interface, both deck creation and play, take some getting used to. The main problem is that it's quite buggy - often times I can't get a match to begin because only one person enters the game window (sometimes the challenged, sometimes the challenger - doesn't seem to make a difference) - the other player simply never receives anything (no notice, window, or otherwise). Also sometimes games or players don't get listed in the chat window. It seems there's some kind of sync issue going on between the client and server - don't know if that's really the problem, but that's what it feels like. If that were fixed, I'd probably bump the average rating to a 4 instead of 3, and change my recommendation to yes instead of no. But as it is, it's barely playable. What's odd is that until recently (the last couple weeks), this problem was far less frequent. Not sure if it was the most recent update or if Apple's update to the Java engine had something to do with it. Of course, you can't really argue with the price... [alert admin]

Maya 5.0 (Mac OS X)

workstation cards for mac

"Don't get mad at me, get mad at Alias as well as at Apple for refusing to make workstation class graphics cards available for Mac." I've heard rumors (from a source) that workstation cards will be coming for mac soon. Maya isn't going anywhere... I've been using Maya PLE on Mac for a couple years now (mostly for modeling and texturing) - it's awesome. As soon as I can afford it, I'll be buying it. [alert admin]

background repag. preference not saved

This problem has been in there since 10.0.0 - turning Background Repagination (in the General section of the prefs) on doesn't get saved - after quitting and restarting Word, the pref is back to the Off setting. Very annoying.. Unfort, Word is a necessary evil because everyone uses the damn thing. [alert admin]

Halo 1.0 (Mac OS X)

awesome, only one flaw so far

I played on the xbox, and this is just so much cooler, mainly cuz I can now use my keyboard and trackball instead of the xbox controller (I've just never been able to use those things very well). The only problem so far is that the motion tracker is "duplicated" in a black box in the upper left corner of the screen - very odd, and kinda annoying since it obscures part of the view of my ammo count. And iGreg, if you can't recognize what's great about the game, then I feel sorry for you - of course the graphics aren't going to be incredible - the game's like 3 years old afterall! But it still has a great storyline, playability, graphics and sound (for its time), music, etc. Granted, I'm not sure it's worth $50 (I think 35/40 would have been more appropriate), but it's still a hell of a good time! Apple Mac OS X 10.3.2 (Mac OS X)

no problems on dual 1ghz G4

I did do the permissions repair before installing, but so far, no problems. So dual processor machines are ok (at least to some extent). [alert admin]

doesn't work with Panther and airport

There's a problem in which the computer won't print to the printer (get a communication error) if it's hooked up to the airport and you're running 10.3. This was fixed in 10.2 by the 1.3fA printer driver, but now with Panther, it's broken again. >:/ [alert admin]

Worked great for me

I'm pretty sure the clip length limit for ringtones is 40 secs, not 30.

Yep, I'm seeing the same thing. I pointed it out to an Apple store rep - maybe he'll pass on the info (maybe).

cursor won't go away

I had this same problem - removing the DivXNetworks folder from my /Library directory fixed it. Launching while holding down Command (for the options window) didn't.

problems downloading

Hmm.. it appears to be an issue with Safari - it started downloading ok with Camino. What's weird though is I tried doing the ftp through the desktop, not through safari - so both safari and the desktop ftp gave errors but Camino didn't. Weird...
