Intuit QuickBooks 2010 (Mac OS X)

Same old Intuit Crap

I purchased Quickbooks 2009 almost exactly one year ago. I asked if there was an upgrade price to Quickbooks 2010 and the answer was NO! You have to pay the full price of $200. So in effect I pay Intuit $200 a year to keep up to date and run Quickbooks. Most software developers give previous customers a break on upgrades. Not Intuit!! Well I intend on using the old version for as long as it works. Then I am switching to another more sensitive accounting software company. [alert admin]

Cha-Ching 2.0b99 (Mac OS X)

It now loads but . . .

I am now able to load the app without crashing and you can select "Start Using Cha-Ching" on the Welcome screen. However, although it is quite intuitive, the "Start with Example Database" on the Welcome screen is greyed out. [alert admin]

Slideshow Magic 6.0.1 (Mac OS X)

How do you select an event?

For the life of me I can't figure out how I can select an individual event or particular photos, except pulling all the pictures I want out of the iPhoto library, to create a movie. Otherwise, it appears that I must load the full iPhoto library and then delete the photos I don't want in the movie. When you have 3000+ images, I would suggest that this is not the most efficient nor desirable way to do things. I know it is a few bucks more but FotoMagico allows me to select an event and the images I want in a sidebar beforehand without the necessity of deleting the thousands of unwanted images or pulling the photos I need out of iPhoto. Maybe I am missing something. Anyone clarify? [alert admin]

Merriam Webster dictionary and thesaurus 4.0 (Mac OS X)

You've got to be kidding!

I have a Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus version 3 that has Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Merriam-Webster's 11th Collegiate Dictionary, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Thesaurus that continues to work perfectly with Leopard (10.5.5). I downloaded version 4 and other than a small facelift, the version 3 has as good, if not better and/or more features. Version 4 is not expensive but also not necessary. [alert admin]

The Geometer's Sketchpad 4.0.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Updater hangs up

I downloaded the 4.0.7 updater twice and attempted to install it. It said it was "gathering information". Eventually it said it was not responding and I had to force quit. I am on a MacBook Pro running Leopard (10.5.2). [alert admin]

Andromeda Velociraptor 2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Way out of touch

Andromeda is way out of touch with today's applications. This one doesn't support CS3 nor Leopard. Those plugins that support CS3 require the application be used in Rosetta. Andromeda, get with the program! [alert admin]

Quickie X Web Albums 4.3.7 (Mac OS X)

Very dated

Although this album creator works it is very dated. How dated? Not much has changed in the past year except the system requirements. If you check out the "User Albums" you will find one link doesn't exist and one link takes you to a page where the individual uses a different web album application. There are several good alternatives such as ShutterBug, JAlbum, Galerie, Gallery Designer, etc. [alert admin]

I confirm that this crashes Safari 4.0. I am using Mac OS 10.5.7 on a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I removed the plugin and Safari boots perfectly.
