VueScan 8.5.39 (Mac OS X)

Just Plain Good Stuff

After being frustrated from OS 10.6 rendering my HP Photosmart 2610 Scan Pro non-functional I started looking for alternatives.Including a new printer. Unfortunately, all the all-in-one printer sites that I checked had the same solution to the buttons on the printer for scan not functioning after updating to OS 10.6/10.6.1/10.6.2 which was use System Preferences > Print & Fax > Scan. What a pain but it worked. I was looking for a quicker scan solution. In Apple discussions it was suggested to try VueScan. I did and knew instantly that VueScan was better then all the solutions I had seen to this point. After 5 minutes I purchased it. You know something is good when you see it. This was it. Yeah it is not free. But check it out , you will buy it too. Worth it to me. Not frustrated anymore. [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 3.1 (Mac OS X)

LCC 3.1 Worked with MX Revolution

I debated for over a week whether to install LCC 3.1 with some of the negative reviews on Apple Discussions and here. But I bit the bullet and tried it today and it worked fine for my MX Revolution mouse. The work around I used worked also which was installing from within the LCC 3.0 installer package and copying Expose from Utilities to Applications. So after updating to LCC 3.1 I removed Expose from from Applications and it is working fine. All buttons functioning as they are supposed to. [alert admin]

Apple iMovie 8.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Sorry to Say

I am sorry to say that Jokyo777 below here is correct. iMovie 6 was far more usable and the incompatibility of iMove 8 with iMove 6 is extremely disappointing. You would think Apple would come out with a converter so your projects in iMovie 6 are not dead. Projects need to be completely redone. What was apple thinking? Not like the Apple I know. The ease of use of iMovie 6 was great. Got it done quickly. I am now trying to learn Final Cut Express to recreate all my projects in iMovie 6. But Apple my change that next. We need more flexibility to run these apps in each program like it used it be. Don't close the door on us. Sorry [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Almost there.

I agree with "No crashes yet" 7/9/09 below here. Safari 4.0.2 is almost where it should have been at v4.0. It's far more stable and nimble, If…if you turn off Preferences>Security>Fraudulent sites. Leave the preference on, and everything slows to crawl at times. One other thing since version 4.0 is that you cannot leave feedback at Versiontracker . I have to use Firefox to do that. Safari keeps taking you to the sign in/signup, need an account page in versiontracker. I have reported this before but is still happening. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Best Safari yet

I upgraded to Safari 4.0 on iMac 2.0 PPC ALS in both Tiger and Leopard. It went well. I have not had any of the problems listed below in versiontracker. One minor problem is that I cannot add feedback at versiontracker. It asked me to sign in then tells me I am already signed in and keeps doing that. I go to Firefox and it works fine for this. Minor I know but everything else seems to work fine. The new Cover flow is awesome. Safari 4.0 is the fastest to date that I have tried. Excellent job Apple. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Mac OS X)

Longest boot for an update to date on PPC (OS 10.5.7)

This update in the end worked fine. But had me worried for awhile when updating. I did the usual: 1. Booted in "Safe Boot Mode" ( Hold Shift key down when booting) 2. ran OS 10.5.7 install. Took 10 to 15 minutes to complete , a bit longer then most for me. Then clicked restart button when prompted , as usual. This is where I began to wonder. Upon click restart all the icon disappeared like they should but hung at the desktop backround to 15 to 20 minutes. I almost turned it off when the screen finally went black and began to boot. Did the usual double boot then another 5 minutes and it was up and running. I immediately ran "Repair Permissions" with Disk Utility and ll seems fine. I is , in fact, faster on the internet although in Safari it won' let me add feedback on Versiontracker but worked in Forefox okay. Anyway this method has worked for me for every update since the beginning of time. Well Mac time anyway. This update just took way longer then most, so BE PATIENT!!! Big time PATIENT. I installed on a iMac 2.0 PPC ALS enternal HD where I test everything before putting on my internal HD. Good Luck [alert admin]

Refresh Finder 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Nice But there are others

I use Main Menu which has a "Relaunch Finder" feature that also works good. Refresh Finder is nice but only does one thing. That is fine but Main Menu does many other things also free. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25902 [alert admin]

Should one have to pay for a security upgrade?

The answer is no you don't pay again as long as you have Pro in previous version of 7X. I never use the Software Updater so here is what I. I download the Stand Alone update of Quicktime (that is that one that says "Free Downlaod" NOT the one that says "Upgrade now"). Run the install and it will require a restart. After restart open Quicktime and check Quicktime Preferences and click on "registration". In…
