Second Life 1.6.7 (Mac OS X)

Speed is improving in this release version

Speed is improving with this release. Definitely 1gb ram is a good idea with this software especially in Tiger 10.4. Also if your Mac supports it download ATI Utilities and select a custom configuration for performance in the 3D section. This makes frames go faster as well. Also some areas of SL are high lag while others are not. So long as there is a conscious effort to improve the software this gets a bettwer rating from me. [alert admin]

Fetch 5.0 (Mac OS X)

Fetch used to be the best......

....Transmit is what i feel has the better feature set. Fetch took so long to come to market with this recent upgrade, I have gone to Transmit. [alert admin]

OSX SkyFighters 1945 0.7.4 (Mac OS X)

Where is the ME-262?

IMO you cannot call this program skyfighters 1945 without an ME-262. Where is the aircraft? [alert admin]

The Onyx utility as of 1.5.2 is for 10.3.x Panther only. DO NOT RUN IF YOU USE Tiger. Otherwise it;s fine.Wait for version 1.6 if you use Tiger OS X 10.4 [alert admin]

Second Life 1.6.4 (Mac OS X)

Servers are gagged situation degrading

The servers are degrading to the point where you cannot log on during many hours of the day. Too many users not enough infrastructure such as routers nodes etc. are lacking. Avoid the program until Linden buys some more routers and switches. [alert admin]

Second Life 1.6.3 (Mac OS X)

Servers are gagged during peak hours

As with The Palace way back in the mid-late 1990s which was also innovatine in it's time the servers cannot connect you during peak hours. I have experienced an inability to connect at those times and for the reason that there is not enough infrastructure routers switches nodes whatever to handle the traffic. Second Life needs to upgrade the quantitiy of their nodes to meet demand. The real truth here is that as much as people like the technology and fun of Virtual Worlds, the truth is that they do not make as much money as other software does because of the infrastructure costs as well as costs of operation. Second Life 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

Second Buggy Laggy Life

Well it's buggy folks, as buggy as The Palace was before it went Chapter 11. SO many chats have gone under because of offering buggy software to the general public with wow features here (or have priced themselves out of it all) like 3d chat without having optimized the code FIRST. In the case of the Mac OS X client it requires a fairly robust hardware and even then it's VERY laggy. This does NOT significantly improve with taller hardware, which points to inefficient programmers-and source code. People will lose interest in a chat, over time, thsat does NOT perform, no matter how cute the concept is. As it is i will not invest more than the ten dollars I already have done as without further REAL optomization of the code, and further bugfixes which will have to be fundamental there will be nothing much to recommend. For a grest lagfree chat with very few bugs try The Manor over at http://www.madwolfsw.com. It's a 2d chat but it WORKS.Don't beat yourselves over the head about something if the programmers and owners of Second Life can't or won't implement what is necessary to make the software decent.an not recommend Second Life until major fixes go in. Shame too....COULD be fun. [alert admin]

New major bug?

The problem is with face tracking enabled in iChat AV 2.1 with a logitech quickcam zoom (silver) and the ecamm usb web cam driver installed. Thing is with the logitech driver installed and face tracking turned off you don't even NEED this product anymore. So why use something that is bugridden? With the usb web cam driver installed and face tracking turned off you can use iChat AV with the logitech quickcam zoom and just…

Where Are the Settings?

The face tracking options in iChat AV are a cause of breakage of the driver. In other words it dosen't work worth a darn. The ecamm driver works in iChat AV if face tracking is turned off.

Ok...

Limited Improvement? let's see this objectively, well if you mean that your colors are millions of colors in 24 bit mode and rooms can be any size in millions of colors and there are game rooms that Palace never had, oh and there are no prop purging or loss of props as there is on Palace. Well thats some kind of improvement to me, definitely worth 20 a year. DEFINITELY and SURELY. Look get in…
